I know that the DL Haunted Mansion has an NBC layover for Halloween-Christmas. Generally, after they close it to take off the additions, when is it usually opened back up as the plain ole' Haunted Mansion?

The NBC overlay stays in place thru early January and then HM goes down for about two weeks while they remove it.

In January, like after the first week of January, it shuts down for the removal of the holiday stuff, then it becomes plain ol' Haunted Mansion again. And the Small World Holiday goes back to normal too!

A bummer. I'm trying to plan a trip there for mid Jan but looks like we'll miss it.

DLR caters more to locals and hence has more luxury than WDW to take down a favorite ride like HM or IASW for 2-3 weeks twice a year every year to add holiday overlays. WDW has talked about it but the model does not work as well there with more out-of-towners on once a year trips.

Just so you do not have more surprises for mid-January you can check out these links:

Hopefully by first week of February it will be all normal again:thumbsup2

Oh that helps tons! Thanks a million! We will be there over a weekend and I think that the only *must* for us as far as entertainment is the Fireworks. I will definately keep an eye on this.

wait will wdw have halloday hm up next year? or is dl the only one that gets the lay over? (if wdw dosent then thank god lol we will get to go on hm with out it were going next nov-dec to wdw)

Just DL gets the layover, thank goodness.

I say why not have the nbc theming applied to the HM, at WDW, at least every other year, that way, people that would prefer to see the HM, without the overlay, can, and the people that would like to see it, can as well.
My vote will always be for removing it completely, and possibly having DL. create a ride attraction that is specifically nbc, at DCA, that would be a good location, for I see there being ample space for it, and it is Hollywood themed as well, so therefore a perfect fit.

I am actually quite surprised that Disney doesn't at least try to put one of the holiday overlay rides - HMH or IASWH - down in WDW, but as previously stated by another poster, maybe it is because DL caters more to local visitors and can afford to shut certain rides down for two weeks at a time, whereas in Florida, they can't? I don't know. I would think that both holiday overlays would be quite popular down in Florida. Actually, now that I think of it, doesn't Tower of Terror have a bit of a Halloween overlay as well during October? Of course, I don't ride it but it seems like it is advertised as being Halloween-themed during that time of year. So I guess we get all of that in California, which is nice because DLR gets exclusives, but they won't get to see any of it down in WDW, which seem unfair to them!

I have pictures of the Haunted Mansion Holiday overlay as well if anyone wants to see them.

I think the NBC theme goes up way too early. It makes more sense to me to decorate after Halloween and leave the HM as is during October. It's more scary and more appropriate for Halloween without NBC.

" I agree !" ~ :hmghost:

I'm glad you like them! I went crazy when I saw them XD It's the ToT in DL. I wish they did this for WDW. I have plenty of the Haunted Mansion holiday i'd like to share, as long as no one minds me spamming up the thread XD
