Haunted Mansion or Pirates first

If we get over to New Orleans Square around 10, should we ride Haunted Mansion or Pirates first to minimize waits?

Neither is a long wait but Pirates' line moves faster because of the way it loads so if the choice is between the two, I'd do HM first.

At 10AM it will not matter. I choose based on FP collecting. HM is nearer to Splash and POTC to Indy and BTMRR. So based on my FP windows when I get to NOS and the next FP we want to get I choose.

We always do POTC first. It loads faster. Besides, we'll do HM once a trip and POTC multiple times.

I go with where I am collecting FP's, both rides have relatively short lines and I will have ridden both at opening on a non-MM day.

If I had to choose I'd do mansion first, only because the ride is shorter. You can do mansion then backtrack to pirates by the time people make it through the entry gates. If you do pirates, which is a 15 minute ride, there will be q lot more people through the turnstiles by the time you get off!

When I was there the first week of May, they were not using fastpass for HM, Indy or BTMRR. Of course, it was low crowds. So it depends on when you go.

Thanks! This will be on Sunday, June 5 when DL opens at 8. We will be there at 7 for MM. My girls are not thrill riders so we won't need any fastpasses.

You shouldn't find a long wait for either, those lines move fast. But we always do Pirates, and then Haunted mansion. Since Pirates comes first walking that way. Have Fun!

Pirates was my mother's favorite ride in all of Disneyland. She died 2 years ago, and 7 months after her death, my dad took all of his children, their spouses, and his grandchildren to Disneyland to celebrate her life. It was a tradition to go every other year while she was alive. When we got there, there was no question where we'd go first... we rode Pirates in her honor.

We are all heading back to Disneyland in August, and that will be our first ride then, too. It brings back great memories of mom and Grandma.

My family's tradition was Pirates first, then Haunted Mansion! Two of my favorite rides!! I can't wait to go back!

We always go the left when we get to Disneyland get Indiana jones fast pass go on pirates first. When we get to haunted mansion there is usually no wait and we walk in then we go to splash (it wasn't opened last couple of times but whenever we did go in the morning there usually wasn't a line.

When we leave the area we will sometimes do pirates again it is one of my favorites

I would do HM first, since Pirates takes much longer to build up a long line, since it loads so fast. Also, as PP said, it's a much longer ride, so lots more people come in to DL while you're riding.

I'd grab a fastpass for HM and go on Pirates.

Will HM be using FP in June? I thought it was only the holiday version that used FP.

HM doesn't use FP except during the holiday version (and even then they don't use it sometimes on weekdays when the park isn't crowded).

I would also cast my vote as either whichever way you are heading, or do Haunted Mansion first simply because no matter how crowded the park gets or how big the Pirates line looks, it always moves quickly.

I usually ride Pirates first because you walk by it before you get to the Haunted Mansion. The Pirates line seems a little slower than the Haunted Mansion so this is the other reason I ride Pirates first especially if I get to the park when it opens.

I have been on POTC during very very crowded days and the line move amazingly fast. One year we were there the day after the "new" version opened (when they added Johnny Dep) and the line was snaking around NOS. Everyone in my group said they didn't want to wait in that long line but I insisted I wasn't leaving without seeing the new ride. We timed it and we were on the boat in under 30 min. So, now we know we can get on this ride pretty fast no matter how long the line looks. This is why we do HM first. POTC is also a great ride on a hot afternoon.
