^ is correct. More specifically, this year it went down on January 5th and is scheduled to re-open on February 14th, according to the Disneyland calendar.
AD Goofy, were you referring to when the regular Haunted Mansion is shut down to put in the HMH overlay, or the reverse (to remove the overlay, which is what the previous posters explained)? If it's the former and not the latter, I think that DL usually shuts HM down in early September, for about 2 or 2-1/2 weeks, and then Haunted Mansion Holiday opens in late September. (And you are going to DLR in August, I see, so maybe that's why you were wondering?) I am not sure what this year's HMH schedule will be, however, because of the 40th anniversary of the original Haunted Mansion, and the events that take place to commemorate it in early September. Not sure if they will skip HMH in 2009 or just open it up later than usual, or perhaps put it together in under 2-1/2 weeks???!!
Yes, I did mean when they change it from the regular haunted mansion to the holiday theme. I am going to be there on Sept. 8-12, and was just curious which version I would see. But maybe it will already be changing over. Thanks

That's what I thought you meant! (Except I miscalculated that you were going to DLR in August when I looked at the ticker, rather than September!) The only thing with 2009 is that the Haunted Mansion is having at least one event to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the original HM, and one of these events is on September 9th. So that means it would not be shut down for the overlay at that time as it normally is every other year. This is why I am thinking DLR will either skip the HMH overlay in 2009 altogether OR start the overlay process later in the month than they normally do, thus opening Haunted Mansion Holiday later than they normally do. In any case, I think you are going to miss the Haunted Masnion Holiday version, sadly (too bad, because it's cool), but you should be able to catch the regular Haunted Mansion for at least a couple of days you are there.
