I know you'll think I'm pathetic, but I'm just not good at the games. I love the quests, until it comes time to play the games. LOL! I just don't score well.

Anyways, I have to get only 25 ghosts in Haunted Mansion, but I'm having trouble moving around. I use the mouse to move, but my player just kinda freezes sometimes. I don't think it's my computer, it's like I'm not clicking it right or something. Needless to say, this causes me to miss lots of my ghosts and get caught by the other ghosts. Ugh!

Can anyone offer some advice?

Thanks so much!

I usually play with the mouse. When it freezes like that click a few times or hold an arrow key for a second or 2 and the control comes back to the mouse

I always pushed the shift and held it as if to suck up the ghosts. The proper technique is to wait until the ghosts throw up their hands and push the shift key repeatedly and quickly.

I used to use my mouse in mansion and it would do the same thing. It would start moving again if I shook my pointer back and forth over my person for a sec. But the best way to fix this is to learn to use the arrow keys. It is much easier and your person walks where you want it to...usually :thumbsup2

All I can say is just keep playing! I really didn't like it at first, and was embarrassed at how badly I played :rotfl: but the credits were worth it so I just kept trying. Once you've played for a while, you can kind of get the feel for how to move your character around...because that was my worst thing in the game, my character never seemed to go where I wanted her to! I found that if I have my pointer too close to my character it's usually how I get "stuck"...I have to move it further away to make her get moving again. Maybe that's just me though, lol! Now I only get stuck once in a while and actually keep up, so it's really just practice, practice, practice! :) Look for some familiar names when you are waiting for a game in the lobby, give a yell if you see me because I'm always up for a game and I know there are others here who would say the same. :thumbsup2

I do not know how many items are in your inventory but I emptied all my items that I could into rooms and it did help in playing mansion.
I guess carrying all that inventory was using more memory.

Well, It is worth a try! Good luck to you :goodvibes

I found this post of yours last night and responded and here it is again. I hope this helps! Don't click your mouse in Mansion!

Any tips for Haunted Mansion and POTC would be great, too. I'm just not great at the games. I can't get my character to move right in the HM game. She just freezes or something. Maybe it's my computer.

At first I was dealing with the same thing. If you mess around between your mouse and your arrow keys you can figure out when your character is 'on/off' so to speak. I stick to just using the mouse these days and find that starting off, you just need to do a few circles around your avatar and they should get moving. You don't need to click like POTC, just move the mouse in the direction you want the avatar to go and they will follow. I hope that helps!:)

1) Don't click when you are moving your mouse to steer
2) When you are near ghosts, continually tap on the control key
3) Follow a player of the other color around....they will be sucking up the opposite color ghosts, and your color ghosts will be attracted to them and you can scoop 'em up.
4) If you get stuck, wiggle your mouse around and usually that helps.

WOW! Thank you all sooo much! I'll have to try your suggestions, and I'll just keep practicing. I'll let you know how it's going!

Take care!:thumbsup2

OK, good luck. You can always look for me on VMK. My name is the same, Majigoria.

I did it! I got my 25 and 30 ghosts that I needed for 2 different quests! Yay! Thank you all so much!

Now I have to get 3000 in Fireworks! Oh boy! I've only gotten a little about 1000 so far, but I'm gonna keep on tryin'.

Have a "magical" day!

The key to fireworks is that it is more important to get a "Flawless" than it is to get a firework and not get flawless. When you get a few flawlesses in a row, your "multiplier" goes up. So after one flawless your next firework score is multiplied by 1.5, then after the other is is multiplied by 2.0, all the way up to 3.0. So it is better to completely miss a firework than to not get a flawless.

To get a flawless, click on the firework when you see the little star on the firework.

The other key is practice practice practice such that you know the order of the different fireworks without thinking about it too much.

My problem, when waiting for flawless, is that I often miss the fireworks completely!! I don't know if it's lag in my computer or just lag in me... :rotfl:

in the mansion game, i usually use the arrow keys and press control to activate the vacuum to catch ghosts.

just is alot easier for me to do that, and i usually press control when im near or coming toward a ghost, and i keep pressing it so the vacuum consistently goes.

I think the trick to mansion is practice. I know theres a posting from me about a year ago venting on my inability to control those darn guys when I first started playing. LOL. Eventually you'll get the hang of moving around the screen, and pick up on the tips and tricks to the game. Now I just vent when I'm having a bad streak of luck...
