Haunted Mansion Fastpass?

I was just reading about wait times and a Haunted Mansion Fastpass was mentioned. I know in the past they have offered them just during the holiday season but do they offer them year round now? I have never been to the parks when they offered these but we always go during off-peak season. Also, where is the HM FP given out? I LOVE me some HM but DH isn't a fan mostly because it always seems to malfunction on us. Has that improved since the major refurb last year? The FP may help him (and me) out since we won't have to wait so long to ride!

In my experience, they've only had them during the holidays, but the Disneyland website shows the Fastpass effective now, I think. The lines are pretty short in the morning, then get longer as the day progresses, but sometimes I see the lines as pretty manageable in the evenings. The fastpass distribution is to the left of the entrance to the attraction.

Rumor is that they are on the verge of adding FP to some more attractions in anticipation of going electronic with the entire system. Sigh.

So having it full time on HM now isn't surprising.

We got one in March and one in April. I like it because I grab a FP to HM and then ride Pirates. My HM return time is usually ready then. Depedning how crowded your day is.

Great strategy! I'll have to keep that in mind.

We also. Got them in March (13th I think, during the spring break season but not during the "peak" of it since it was more than 2 weeks before Easter) we also got them a few years back Presidents' Day weekend which is a very busy weekend though not as bad as the winter holidays by a long shot.

The fast pass machine for HM is to the left of the HM line entrance. You walk like you are going to the train station to the far right of the train station and the left of HM and it is in a gated area beside the HM.

You can get them today and it's great that can. The lines have been over 45 minutes lately in the afternoon.

We got them last week so this is definately not something they are doing just during the holidays.

I think they bring them out during busier seasons? My first time there was in the middle of August and I distinctly remember getting a Haunted Mansion Fastpass and thinking it was odd that such a thing existed (I hadn't known the line to ever get longer than a half hour, maybe 40 minutes)

We were there during the last week of April, and they had fastpass for Haunted Mansion in operation. It ended up being a very busy week.. (Even though 'traditionally' that's a slower week). We used FP once for it.. And the other two times we rode it, the wait wasn't too bad.

Thanks for all the responses! Anybody know if the disruption of the ride has lessened since the big refurb? Last May it was like pulling teeth just to get on the thing due to it stopping mid ride constantly and then we got stuck on it several times.

I agree with this. FP has been available every time I've gone since the addition. It's located back by the train station next to the mansion. Depending on if they use the line portion that's outside the gates, it can be hard to get to. You kind of have to take a long way around by the French Market and train station.
As far as the ride stopping, I'm pretty sure it has to do with loading and not it actually breaking down. People with handicaps and other needs take a little more time getting in and out, so that slows the movement and can cause the ride to pause.

Yes, this is correct. I have not been on it in the past 15 - 20 years without it slowing down or stopping during the ride.

Yes, it's been available daily for a year at least. It's one of those, like Buzz Lightyear, that isn't always necessary, but could be nice.

The disruption has to do with loading wheelchair guests and other loading problems. Same thing happens on Mermaid, similar ride systems.

I totally get that but last year when we were there it was excessive. The ride was stopped for 20 minutes at a time at least twice and this was all 3 times we rode. One time we waited so long to board that everyone in line was sitting on the ground (we qued for about 30 minutes and THEN were delayed around 30 minutes I think, and we were second in line). I LOVE the HM but that experience may have spoiled it for DH who was never a huge fan anyway. I hope it's gotten better!

Wow! Never experienced anything like that before. That sounds like more than a loading problem.
