Haunted Mansion closed for refurb?

I was asked to post over here about this and see if anyone else had heard anything about it.

Supposedly, the Haunted Mansion will close from 9/3 to 9/21 for refurb.

I was the one who asked. This falls right on top of my vacation, so I would really appreciate it if anyone could share any info they may have.

According to a phone call from a certain cast member to her father the answer is YES!!

Eisner is capable of doing things that are stupid, incredibly stupid and absolutely dumbfoundingly amazingly stupid, but I think that permenantly closing the Haunted Mansion is beyond even his ability to push the stupidity envelope. (Now all we need is for AV to chime in and say something like "you don't want to know what they are really thinking of doing".)

(Sigh) its a bummer. I understand and accept that they have to do this work sometime and I am glad they there are investing the time and effort into the maintenance of the classic. Still, did they have to do it on my vacation? (Long drawn out sigh) Oh well, such is the cost of going in the off season when their are lower crowds.

On Oct 30, WDW is holding a hard ticket event called the "999 Haunts Ball." And you guys know how Disney loves it's merchandising events. Well, maybe you don't know since most of the events of this type are held in DL. But needless to say they bring in a lot of money. So at least this year the HM is safe

Well, they'll be bringing in lots of money at the 999 Happy Haunts Event.

I just received the catalog of merchandise for this event - there's a lot of great stuff in there! Too bad the edition sizes are so small, I'll be lucky if I get one or two things that I want!

I'm sorry to spook everyone (*rim-shot*)

I'm not extremely worried taht they'lll just close it (& keep it closed), but rather that we'll see Journey Into Your Imagination redux. I guess I'm just nervous with the movie coming out soon. Call it flash backs of having Robin Williams as the ghost host I suppose. *shudder* Subtle changes-good; drastic, ride ruining changes-bad.

Nothing major, just keeping up the show (definitely work that needs to be done). Like I said in my post earlier this week, it's that time of year.

For us CMs it'll be nice to not have to worry about stepping in oil that tends to puddle in offstage areas every now and then... yuck!

WDWMagic is reporting that the refurbishments will occur mostly in the stretching room sequence of the attraction.

Actually, both.

DL's HM closes after this weekend to switch over to the Nightmare Before Christmas overlay. But this thread is referring to WDW's.

There is also a dinner event at the HM in September (I beleive) that they will be getting ready for - this is not the Happy Haunts Ball, but something else.

Weird. I thought they left the high ticket nostalgia stuff for DL, but I guess WDW wanted a cut of the action?

I think WDW is going to get a Nightmare versoin, but not this or next season.
