Haunted Mansion at DL or WDW...

WDW HM has the most sentimental value to me - it's the one I grew up with.....

That said, I really love the exterior of DL HM - I love the whole NO Square - The interior seems pretty much the same to me, except that the Stretching Room works in the opposite direction.

I agree with Leota. The outside is definitely different, but if somebody blindfolded you and dropped you inside the stretching room, you probably wouldn't know if you were at WDW or DL.

I would--the floor goes down at DL (you can feel it start going down and feel it stop), plus there are some different ride elements at each one (I think at MK there's a library, at DL there isn't, plus we see little Leota on the way out after you exit your doom buggy), so, if I could take the blindfold off once in the stretching room, I would for sure know.

We felt that things were the pretty much the same in each HM, but they were not presented in the same order.

I like being able to walk by the busts and the changing paintings at the HM in DL. You have to stand firm against the tide of guests rushing toward the doom buggies, but you get a good view of all of them.

I haven't been on HM at WDW in years. It's one of the things I'm really looking forward to! :D

I think the DL mansion is scarier by virtue of having to WALK by the busts and paintings rather than ride. Also it takes longer to get to the exit so again it is a little creepier.

DH thinks that the shrinking room on the HM in WDW is an elevator bringing you down tot he doom buggys. . He said he felt it moving. Is he right??

I like the HM in WDW better than DL. In the stretching room, I thought that I was on an elevator in DL, but not in WDW. They both are great though!

:teeth:

If you ever get a chance to do the Holiday Haunted Mansion at DL, go for it! I was astonished at how different it was from the regular HM ride. There was a rumor this was coming to WDW but not this year:(

Let's see if I get this right:

When they built HM at DL, they needed to build the main building outside the RR tracks, so they built a tunnel underneath and the stretch room drops you down to that tunnel.

When they build the HM at WDW, while they didn't need the drop, the stretch was an well-known part of the ride, so the ceiling goes up.

At DL the stretching room is an elevator, but not at WDW--there the ceiling goes up. It was actually disconcerting to me to have the floor not go down like it does at DL. The reason the room is an elevator at DL is because the ride portion is actually on the other side of the RR tracks and in order to get there, they had to go underneath the tracks. The RR tracks are also why DL's POTC had 2 drops (actually, why there are drops in the first place)--again, the majority of the ride is on the other side of the tracks.

DL is better.....if only because they "dress it up" for the Nightmare Before Christmas with Jack Skeleton! :hyper:
