Hats off to Resort Manager

On our last trip with my grandchildren, ages 8 & 10 at the time, the youngest sat down on a bench outside the Riverside Mill and removed his lanyard. When he got up to leave, he forgot the lanyard was laying there. It had all the pins he had collected and his KTTW caed in a sleeve.

In a moment he realized he didn't have it, turned around, and it was gone. He was devistated.

We went to the lobby and told them what happened. The manager came out, looked up our records and said the card would be replaced. He then went into his office. When he came back out, he not only had a replacement card, but a new lanyard and a set of 10 exclusive pins that hadn't even been issued yet.

I consider that going way beyond what I would have expected him to do. That child went from total dispair to the happiest person in the world.

That's why I always stay at a Disney resort. They take care of their guests.

That just brought tears to my eyes. :)

I got choked up too! My sons LOVE to pin trade & I know how absolutely devastated they'd be to lose their lanyard. I'd be sure & send a letter or email to his superior to let them know how much you appreciated it!

I would have been looking at every lanyard around every neck for the rest of that trip to see who'd stolen it. Were you able just to sort of forget about the theft and focus on the positive? Was it obvious who had taken it? Glad it turned out well.

We did look at everyone wearing a lanyard for the remainder of our trip. We had the name of the manager and did send a letter to corporate and got a responce from them.

We went in looking like lost sheep, and they responded with kindness. I'm sure there have been others with similar experiences who might have reacted differently and received a different responce from the staff. I have always tried to treat people the way I would like to be treated.

By the way, that youngster is a fanatic about his pins. He has nearly 1000 of them organized in binders by catagory. For example all villians are in one section, or they might be grouped by character. He now has three binders full.

On our upcoming trip, he will pull the ones he wants to trade and bring them along. I think it's a great activity, and helps him interact with people.

How sad that someone else kept something that not only didn't belong to them, but could tell it had a lot of sentimental value....

But 10 thumbs and fingers up to Disney for helping make it right...:banana:

A gigantic reason for why I'm so dedicated to WDW is the people they hire. They are caring and thoughtful and I'm seen things like this happen many times of the last 10 years of going down there. Bravo Cast members you are the reason it is so popular!!!!:woohoo:

Sweet endings. Last Aug my DGD left her cell phone in the BC lobby bathroom. Went back and it wasn't there. We told the concierge desk what had happened. Ten minutes later they called "nana", we were on the boardwalk, and DGD answered. Some kind and honest lady turned it in to the concierge desk. Great ending.

My granddaughter did the same thing with her pin lanyard. We were waiting for a bus at Wilderness Lodge and she had put it down while we were waiting. Needless to say many tears were shed that day. We did return to the front desk an hour later and low and behold someone had turned it in. There are honest people out there. :thumbsup2

Awesome story! Disney has so many great CMs.

Thats so awesome that they did that! I know my daughters would be devastated to lose either of their lanyards.....I'm sure none of the pins they have are being made anymore.

Of the 1000 pins he has, many were limited release, more than 200 are exclusive, and most of them are no longer available. He's had cases where a CM has approached him wondering how he got some of the pins he has.

The point of this story was that if you treat the CMs with courtesy and respect, it will be returned many times over, which makes your stay even more magical.party:party:
