I had posted on a wedding site about our Mickey/Minnie renewal and got all kinds of sh*t. I couldn't believe it! All I asked was for help trying to figure out how and where to put hidden Mickeys. I got called all kinds of names!

Unfortunately there are sites out there that don't look to fondly on Disney weddings of any sort.

I've seen very little drama here and it's moderated quickly when there is some. Everyone here is very nice and helpful and it's dedicated to Disney weddings, so there is really no reason to venture elsewhere :thumbsup2

That's really too bad, and it's definitely not the first time I have heard that.

I would like to think that everyone here is helpful and non-judgmental. I'm sure that everyone has come across something that they wouldn't necessarily have or do at their own ceremony, but name calling is just rude and immature:confused3. It's too bad that some individuals don't see how cool Disney weddings can be and how in ostracizing Disney brides they may be missing out on some great advice and ideas. Their loss I guess, our gain!:yay:

So I just found the thread on that unnamed website- and HOLY CRAP! I'm really sorry for what they said! And you came here and posted it so tastefully. You're amazing!!! I'm applauding you right now!

Amen! That's why I <3 the DISBrides! :cutie:

I went and saw, and I'm sorry! wow......

so, your question.....hidden mickeys.....I saw a bouquet with "strategically placed" flowers......there's step 1......swirlies on cake icing? that sounds like a cool thing as well.....who else has had hidden mickeys?

Please don't let it get to you. I don't know why anyone would think it's appropriate to name call or be nasty on a Wedding board when people are trying to plan the happiest event of their lives. Sure you may not always agree with someone's choices but it's their day not yours, and when it's your day you can do what you want. I have found on these boards that everyone is really nice and helpful, and of course since it's dedicated to Disney, so everyone here understands how magical it is! =) As for hidden Mickeys, I really like them in the bouquets and stuff, but I have seen them glued on invitations too (think small pearls). Good luck with planning your vow renewal!

For the name callers, I just feel bad for their fiances.

I want to thank you ladies!! I got home from work this evening and WOW. I was close to crying till I came here. Thank you all for your kind words. I just don't under stand how people can be so rude.

I also dont get why a question about a disney wedding sent them spiraling into a crazy hate filled rant for 8 pages. they need help.

Wow... that was interesting. :P

While most of it was flaming, I do like one of the suggestions that got lost among all of those posts. I forgot to grab her name, but she suggested a hidden Mickey on the soles of your shoes. I think that would be really cute! I have seen others put "I Do" in rhinestones there, and they are always cute! If you do blue rhinestones, you have your "something blue" taken care of too. :thumbsup2

Hey there. I'm so sorry that you had to go through this, and that your thread seemed to get lost in all that bickering. Just try to stay strong and let it go over your head if you can.

As for hidden mickeys, like the pp I love the idea of putting them on the sole of your shoes. I also like the idea of making some mickey shaped hair pins, and popping them in with your tiara/veil (if you're going to have one for a VR). Best of luck, and best wishes for your VR!! :goodvibes:

That is a good idea I will definitely do that! How sad was all that? Apparently there is a WHOLE board about hating Disney brides.

I know, there seems to be a lot of it about. I think the main thing to remember is that it's our Wedding/VR, so as long as we're happy that's all that matters. As PrincessShea said, there doesn't seem to be any drama or nastiness here, because we're all aiming for the same goal, or reached that goal and are now willing to help out new brides. Rest assured everyone on here will do their best to help out with ideas and what not, and be respectful of your ideas and your day!!

There is a LONG history of board wars. I know some of the people on the board who shall not be named and they have stooped really low (they like to look people up on Facebook/Google and invade real life stuff. Talk about Cra-Z!!) I find it interesting though that they never provide a solid reason for not liking Disney Weddings other than what they conceive as childish....:rolleyes1

My only advice is to "Do You". Do whatever makes you happy. If you want to put a mickey head on your shoe or dress up like Minnie herself, it's your wedding, family, and money and they have control over nothing. :goodvibes

Meh. If that is there idea of a fun way to spend their free time, then whatever. Me, personally? I like reading Disney PJ's and drawing! :rotfl:

Wow . . . I didn't realize that little ol' insignificant me was so important and special! I mean, seriously, if there are people out there that I don't even know who spend their time and energy talking about MY wedding . . . :)

Just remember, the opposite of love is not hate - it's indifference. If they didn't care, they wouldn't say anything at all.

I'm 32 years old, and I have a wonderful life! It's certainly not perfect and we all deal with our own challenges, but I get to wake up each day and spend my time doing work that I love. I have a handful of amazing friends, some of whom I've known for more than 20 years. I have a terrific son and an amazing fiance who both bring me joy and laughter each and every day.

We are planning a wedding that is unique and has a lot of special meaning for us . . . and there will by touches of Mickey and Minnie throughout the celebration.

So if YOUR wedding celebration is childish and tacky, then mine will be downright painful and agonizing (or maybe KLAZZY in hot pink bold italics with an upside-down K and backwards Z's . . . ) It's so strange how our guest list keeps growing and growing despite the fact that our wedding is apparently going to be dreadful . . .

Anyway, I can't wait to see how your Mickey and Minnie celebration turns out. I'm sure it will be wonderful and your guests will have a GREAT time!!! Feel free to check out my planning journal for ideas and inspiration - and if you find anything you like, I'll be happy to share any resources I have.

I always love it when non-disney people ask about my wedding and I get to explain how it's going to be a 1930s style; silk charmeuse, top hats, morning coats, palm leaves, peacock feathers, and mercury glass. They always get so excited about it, then I add in a description of the Boardwalk and Beach Club area, and they always want to know where that fantastic location is. Sometimes the look on their face is priceless.... Yes, Disney can be done very stereotyped, but I honestly think my wedding is going to be far more elegant (and adult) than most of those other non-Disney brides! And so are most of the ones I see on the boards!

OP, I'm sorry they made you feel bad. I just scanned the tread, but got tired of it rather quickly.

Those people are strangers who mean nothing to you, so ignore them. Yes, there are people who will want a wedding that's different from yours. And there are even people with so little kindness in them that they can't resist the chance to put someone else down. Sadly, this is easy to do when you're hiding behind a screen name. In real life there would be a shame attached to such behavior, but in cyberspace it doesn't seem to exist.
