Hate waiting to buy airplane tickets!!!

I am sure I am not the only one in this dilemma. I got tickets from NY to MCO 8/25 for $89 a person. We want to come back Sat, Sun or Mon (9/5, 9/6 or 9/7). The flight prices are so much higher. We are a family of 5. I was ready to book flights for a Sat. night flight arriving at 10:30pm. The first 3 people would be $148 but then the other 2 jumped up to $199. I would of just booked but in the past when there was only a few tickets for a lower price, the next price would jump only around $20. I am really getting annoyed waiting for prices to come down a bit. We fly jetblue.

I've opened 2 windows and booked at the same time with Spirit. While I hit submit, Dh hits submit on the 2nd device. Hope you get the fares you want!

If there are only three tickets available at the lower price, you aren't going to be able to buy 4 tickets at that price, even using two open windows.

Your return is Labor Day weekend. Not surprising the costs have gone up.

ETA: What airport are you flying back to? For return on 9/7, I'm seeing $138pp on United into EWR, and $168pp on JetBlue (for 5).

ETA 2: If you can wait until Tuesday (9/8), the price drops to $117-$123pp (into JFK or LGA).

Odd, since I have done this. In OP's case you book with 3 people on one window and 1 person on the other. Or break it up into two's.

How do you feel about paying $129 per person each way? Because that's what five tickets at $89 + three tickets at $148 + two tickets at $199 averages out to.

Yes, I guess if I look at it like that, it's not quite as bad. I just don't now if I should "wait it out" and see if they come down? Any advice on that? The
planes don't seem too full right now.

Simple answer - there were at least four tickets available at the lower price, not three. You can't buy something which isn't being sold.

Ok, so if you are looking at the same tickets at the exact same time as me you will only see the the higher price if I'm seeing the lower price? No, you would see the same price as me until those tickets are booked.
As I said I've done it with Spirit. I know how the fare buckets work. I know what I did.

That's not what I said. We would both see the lower price. I don't know what you're talking about.

What I said was, if an airline has three tickets available at a certain fare, you can't buy four at this fare, no matter how many windows you have open on your computer.
