DD (15) needs to start working on a Service Learning Project in order to graduate from high school. This is a new requirement. We're trying to get ideas about what to do. Any suggestions?

They asked 3 questions to help determine what to do...
1) Do you prefer to work alone or with others? Answer...with others.
2) Inside or outside? Answer...either.
3) Quiet environment or busy? Answer...busy.

I know this may be a vague question, but I'm hoping people here may know more about this type of thing than we do!

I don't know for sure, but it sounds like our senior projects.
Some ideas that people have done are:
Teach/tutor younger students or disabled students
Hold a clinic or help coach a sports team (such as basketball, hockey, etc.)
A senior girl is in charge of a thing called Girls Night Out which is a program for 8th grade girls and they go and spend all night at the high school from 6PM to 6AM on a friday night and they have different activities set up such as crafts, swimming in the pool, and of course eating. THey also have a tour of the high school and small group discussions on 3 topics (eating disorders, drugs, and I forget the third one. They have a martial arts instructor come in and teach the girls self-defens. It is basically an orientation for the 8th graders of the high school.
Last year they started doing a Boys Night Out.
There are many other options that people have done such as holding a benefit concert for a charity. If you need more ideas, feel free to let me know.

I wonder if your Service Learning Project is like our schools Community Service that our children need to do to graduate? Our kids need to do 30 hours and then they have to do some sort of presentation about it. My two DD's helped at an assisted living home during the dinner hours. DS helped with something at school, sports related, sorry I can't remember what. DD14 is now helping out at the middle school library to complete her hours. At our school you can do most anything community related, although it does have to be approved by the school.
