Has your child ever been questioned about age?

My Friend just returned from a great trip to Disney with her family. Her Son is 2 1/2 and tall for his age. She was questioned at the gate about her son's age. She failed to bring his birth certificate because she did not think she needed it. She was almost forced to buy a ticket for her son. Has this ever happen to anyone before?

my ds is 5... but small for his age and in the 10 days there we were not questioned ONCE. That was actually surprising to me. He was in a stroller though. I've seen threads about this and from what I've seen posted there, Disney usually does not question it.

As the mom of two gigantic children and one a bit on the small side of normal...I have never been questioned at Disney...but I have been many other places. My 6 yr. old ds is so big that he looks to be at about 9 years old now. When he was 2 and 1/2 (almost three in a few days)he looked 5 or 6(at least). In fact, when we took him into the doctor's office for his 3 year check up the nurse asked him if he was excited about starting first grade!

Same time frame (within a week) we took one last Disney trip before he turned 3 (he actually turned 3 on our last Disney day) and not one person questioned us. I however, did feel many eyes watching me...I am sure it was in my head though...I was overly worried about "Will they believe he is still only two?" so I think I kind of freaked myself out...

I am sorry your friends had such insensitive treatment. Kids come in ALL sizes. You shouldn't have to prove that to anyone.

That said...GRRR to the people that sneak kids in and make this a thing that has to be watched!!

Did you get him in with out paying for him?

Once at Epcot I was asked how old my middle child was. I told the cm and she let us through. I think I was questioned because my 2 youngest are 12 months apart and people didn't really think they could both be under 3. That was the only time I was asked and she didn't go any further with it. Most people thought they were twins.

We bought our tickets as a package w/dining... BUT they didn't even ask for it! I did make a point to scan his ticket so I could use it to get him fastpasses. If it's not scanned you can't get fastpasses w/it. I did that on accident one day.

Not at WDW but at Six Flags. My DS is 3.5 now but last year he was 2.5 when we went. They didn't believe us that he was only 2.5. They kept asking how old he was and he would say "I am 2, I will be three in July" It was so cute!

I never thought to bring his birth cert. with us but my DS loves to carry around a photo album with photos of him and his sister and brother. I made a portion for each child with their birthdates and photos that were time stamped from the camera showing the date and the child in the hospital. Lucky for us the one I had in there for my DS was one of him in the bassinet with the hopital tag that was readible with the date...lol So they had to believe us.... :teeth:

Now he's almost 4 and is only an inch shorter then his brother who will soon be 6. Most people think they are twins.

My dd 3 (just turn 3 6/24) was 2 when we went in may. Now I have giants for kids. (dead beat aka dad is 6'3 and I am 5'7) dd 6 was able to ride every single ride and she turn six while there.

I was stop I think the first night we were there and we were going to MK they asked for her ticket and I was like she is 2. and they just said ok. Now that I am thinking about it maybe it was at AK. Also I had a couple times while eating at the resturant at buffets they would charge us 4 TS instead of 3 TS (my mom came)

My DD is big for her age. At 10 she is taller than most 12 year old boys. She has been to Disney twice, once when she was 2 1/2 and last year when she was 9. We were never once asked how old she was.

Yes, when my youngest dd was close to three I was asked twice for her ticket, once at MK and another time at AK. Both CM's were kind and respectful but I could tell the CM at AK wasn't sure if dd was truly 2 (she was) but let us through.

Fast forward to this past April 06 with my sil, neice and nephew. My neice was asked almost every time I think because she was walking in as my sil rented a stroller in the parks. The CM's asked her in kind fun sometimes silly way, how old are you cutie, big girl, minnie, princess etc. I was surprised as my neice is tiny barely 22 lbs and small and dosen't even look her age despite turning two next month.

Until recently its been kind of common knowledge that until recently WDW wasn't going to challenge a guest attempting to bring in a child over three without a ticket. For that reason I personally think that the CM's are now asking more and have more authority to ask for a ticket or proof if a child looks to be over three. IMHO its a benefit that has been abused and this may cause those with children who legitimately are two or under to be questioned. If my dd's were still under three I would probably bring a copy of the BC just in case.

Oh yes. I had my day start off terribly when a CM at MK pointed to one of my sons in their double jogging stroller and say, "how old is THAT one?". I replied, they are twins, they are 2. She then asked me when their birthday was, as if trying to cross examine me.I told her- (it was three months from then) and she then asked the CM at the next turnstile- "do they look 2?" I told her that it wasn't wether or not they "looked' 2 or not- but that they are 2. My DH who had gone through with my 4 year old came over thinking my finger scan wasn't working. He said, "we have theri birth certigficates in our hotel room since we flew here- (we were at the Poly) I can get on the monorail and retrive them if you'd like". I could tell when she just shrugged and opened the gate that she STILL doubted me. It really aggravated and humiliated me- a lot of people behind us were listening intently. My DH had to all but stop me from getting their birth certificates just to shove in her face.
