My premium has increased massively this year. Last year I went with the Co-op which was £234 and I got £60 cashback through Quidco too.:thumbsup2 This has been roughly what I've paid for a few years. This year I can't get anywhere near that. The closest quote I have is through Tesco at £260, with no cashback. My personal circumstances, car and address have all remained the same, so why the price hike? Has anyone else had this experience?

the sames happened to me too, mines due the end of the month.
I think mine was around £225 last year this year its £285. I think some of the cheaper ones were only around £20 cheaper and not sure if i can be bothered with the hassle of swapping for little gain. :sad2:

I read somewhere recently about the same thing happening to someone else and they were told it was due an increase in claims in their area :confused3 So effectively they were being punished because alot of people in their area were having car accidents and so on.

I think mine needs renewing in August, really hope it doesn't go up that much!

I think that must be it. I always shop around and I can't seem to get it any cheaper. The Quidco cashback doesn't seem as good this year either.:confused3

If I had renewed with the company we were with they wanted almost £300. Changed to Aviva, BMW 318iSE, Value £16k, Insured and Spouse incl business use £213.00 less Quidco £70 = £143 Not bad but we are in our 40's and never claimed & no points in 20+ years of motoring so very low risk.

Mine has shot up too, even though I have 7 years protected no claims, no convictions etc & I have done a Blue light advance driving course for my job. I have been thinking of changing my car & this is sort of made my mind up to do so

Will check out Aviva tomorrow. I've got maximum NCD too - been driving 21 years and my car's worth £6000! :confused3

Just checked: £290 with £30 cashback, so same price as Tesco.

What excess you putting in? I increased excess to £250 to bring quote down but I doubt it will make that much difference.
It could possibly have been a mistake, I remember adding NCD protection and legal services and it didn't increase the premium, either a mistake or an offer they had on, I might get a shock next renewal:scared1:

My renewal went up £60 this year but I wasn't happy with this and got back to company, saying I was going elsewhere. They immediately knocked £50 off! Just shows you!

My excess was £150, so I might play around with that. I always protect my NCD but I don't usually bother with legal services. The cash back has gone down considerably this year.

I must be the odd one out then - my car insurance went down this year - only by about £20 but, still, I am happy enough with that :)

I think mine went down too but not by a huge amount, DH's also went down and his car is an Evo, so if anything was going to go up then we wouldn have expected it to be that!

A friend of mine who came to insure his car last week couldn't even get a quote! His current insurer wouldn't re-insure him and he was struggling to get another price from anywhere! His car is modified, but fully legal and done by Ford so it's all a bit confusing! :confused3

Its due to the modifications. It makes it a bigger risk to insure, sometimes making it more attractive to be stolen, some aren't always legal etc so many won't touch them

That's true. My sil had a KA with a (legal) spoiler and she had a nightmare getting it insured. Seems pretty ridiculous.:confused3

well for the first time in 7 years i changed my insurance and saved 300 quid:rotfl2:
just shows how much extra i was paying to be priviledged;)

I always shop around. It's shocking how much the same cover can cost with different insurers.

Got mine today - increased by £70 and they want higher excess :scared1: Few phone calls needed I think.

Tesco was the cheapest for me and if you recommend a friend, you both get 1000 points!:)

Yes, by over £100! :scared1: That was the best price I could find too... Thought another year's no claims and turning 26 this year might help but apparently not. I think it's my postcode to be honest, insurance so much cheaper when I lived in the town I was born in (rural small Cheshire town) Wish I still lived there for insurance purposes, shame there isn't any other reason..!
