has this happened to you?

This has been discussed quite a bit in the past so I won't rehash it all here but suffice it to say that even something that would seem simple like this can take well over a year to implement. Taking into acount the number of disparate platforms, communications protocols, data conversion and testing / implementation issues it can be a long process. This isn't one monolithic system but instead a multitude of platforms including whatever central database systems they have, hotel reservation systems, Full service restuarant systems, counter server Point of Sale systems, general Point of sale systems at places that sell snack products and hand held systems at the carts to name a few. All would need to be reprogrammed. There may still be other systems that need changing and depending upon the availability of programs for each platform and creating a test environment ect, ect... It can take a long time. The rumor is that they are working on changing the system but these things can take a long time.

Or the rumor is just that, a rumor, the real decision makers at Disney may have no interests in separating the credits. Only time will tell.

To the OP and others concerned, as the system is set up now, the only thing the servers should be questioning and enforcing is the limits on the front of your card.

There is no problem with that. The problem would be if you used those credits for an adult meal. That violates the rules of the Dining Plan, as outlined in the Dining Plan brochure. This whole issue comes up solely because there is no way for restaurants to quickly and easily tell the difference between saving a child's credits for use by the child later from saving a child's credits for use by an adult.

Aaahh, I knew I was missing something, lol! Thanks for the explanation. I just assumed that child credits and adult credits were kept track of separately and therefore you wouldn't be ABLE to interchange child/adult credits. That seems really silly on disney's part.

Q. Can adults use child meal entitlements?

A. Sorry, meal entitlements can not be shared between adults and children
age 3-9.

Bicker, can you give me a link for this? I cannot find it in the 2006 DDP Brochure. Thanks.

When I went to the WCC last week I checked over te receipt they give you and found that the waiter charged my meal twice, therefore adding an extra $25 to the bill. When I questioned him about it he said not to worry about it that I was charged the correct amount of TS credits (3 adult and 1 child). I was charged the correct amount of TS credits but felt maybe the waiter was trying to get one over on the system because wouldn't this make their tip more.

That's exactly what he was doing.

We just got back, & I bought the DDP for myself, DH, DD '11', & DS '8'. The problem was this, DH & I shared a lot of meals so we had some extra credits. Also, my DD had a few extra adult credits left over. We always used the child credit for my DS '8', when we sat down to eat so he did not have any extra. Well on our last day we had 3 extra credits. I did the math, & it definitely was adult credits. Well when we went to eat at WCC, I told the waiter that we had 3 credits left & it was for the adults. He kind of looking at me like I was trying to pull something over. Well he said I have to call & verify this, & if that is what you have it will be fine. Well I did not have a problem with this, but I did not like feeling like a criminal. I was actually thinking about never buying the DDP again, if sharing & saving credits was going to be such a big deal. Does any waiter ever do this to you?

How silly to call, they are going to tell him the same thing the reciept will if he scans your card. You have 3 adult credits and it is none of his business. I would have said something to a manager or written disney about him, that is uncalled for and rude to the customer. We used the D.P. last year without a problem and are using it again this december with the same sucess I hope.

I think if Disney really had a problem with this it would be fixed by now, just give each member their own card that must be swiped every time. The kid dining card would have to be swiped for a kids meal to be used. (Maybe kids cards have pluto on it and adult cards have mickey to make it faster.) It would take servers more time to run the tabs and it would more paper but the arguement over it all would be done. The servers would get the same amount of tip, so they shouldnt really care. (Unless some are uping their tabs to make more money, that would be ended also with a kid's card.)

Because this no longer is a part of the 2006 brochure, and anyone claiming otherwise is being dishonest in an attempt to support their own agenda. It is however in the 2007 brochure, meaning that maybe, just maybe, the credits will be separated in 2007. Brochures for both 2006 and 2007 can be obtain on the Official Disney Website. Recent trip reports have stated that the credits are still pooled and that no distinction is being made between adult and child credits other than what is listed on your card when ordering.

It's been posted that the brochure with page 5 (FAQ) is the brochure that's being given to guests when they checkin. The brochure on the Disney's website keeps changing between three diferent versions of the brochure..

Several recent posters have not been allowed to order more extra adult meals, if the card said 3A1C 4 adult meals couldn't be ordered.

If I worded it wrong that's what I meant to say. That appears to be the only restriction at this point.

If folks want to see the 2006 MYW Dining Plan brochure actually being handed out at check-in these days, please send me a PM.

Which version of the brochure is currently being given out at check-in? Is it the 5 page version that was briefly posted on Disney's website or a different version?

When the 5 page version vanished from Disney's website Disney replaced it with an older version, not the one that immediately preceded the 5 page version. They now went back to the previous version.

Okay, you've sufficiently confused me new Lewis.
