Has this happened to any other low-carbers?

Last week I found that I wasn't hungry at all and had to really force myself to eat. In spite of not eating that much, I didn't lose any weight at all for almost 6 days!

Then, on Easter I ate much more than I had been, plus I ate a 3/4 inch sliver of apple pie. The next morning I found that I had lost almost 2 lbs! Yesterday I tried eating a little more plus I had one Nestle Treasures and also lost another pound! Isn't that odd? it seems like the more I eat the more I lose. It just doesn't make any sense.

It's common to find yourself a little lighter after a cheat (i.e. the apple pie, chocolate, etc.)... I don't think anyone's figured out quite why. It's often temporary... I'm guessing maybe it has to due more with water weight than anything else.

A LOT of low-carbers find that the more they eat (within reason, of course) the better they lose... this is certainly not a diet where skipping meals helps you. I'm pretty sure that's why Dr. Atkins always said to eat until you were satisfied. I have to eat, or I don't lose. Seems wrong on a "diet" but that's the way it works. :)

Many people find that increasing their carbs a little at a time helps with weight loss, as well. If you get to a point where you're just not losing as well on induction levels, add those 5 carbs... quite often, you'll find you start losing again.

Then again, your body may have just been getting ready last week to shed some weight, hence the lack of appetite. And it went ahead and dropped it this week, increasing your appetite. I've heard a lot of people say they get really hungry right before they drop a bunch of weight.

Some peoples bodies go in to starvation mode if they eat too little. This causes the body to hold on to what it has to survive. Try adding some more protein and fat to your eating throughout the day.
:D

Yes! That's why Dr. Atkins said that after Induction you should slowly up the amount of carbs you eat every day (hopefully in the form of healthy veggies, instead of applie pie! LOL). You want to eat as many carbs as possible, while still losing weight. When you get to the point where you stop losing, go back down a little bit in your carb intake. You should find that perfect balance.

As long as I'm in ketosis I have no appetite, Jill. I have to force myself to eat too :)

Haven't had any sugar since I started this, I can't believe it didn't knock you out of ketosis. You lucky thing! Congratulations on that loss, too. Way to go!
