You check into your resort, get your room key with tickets and dining on it, but your room isn't ready. So what do you do? Head to the parks of course, right? Well that is what we did anyway. When we get to the gate I put my room key in the slot, get ready to put my two fingers in the scanner thing, and the CM looks at me and tells me my card is empty!!! I of course say no it isn't I just got here. One of those wonderful moments when both people know they are right, but someone has to be wrong. Anyway I go to Guest Relations and they are very helpful. But I just was wondering if anyone else ever had this happen. I remember asking the CM at check in if it was ok to go to the parks and he said oh yes you are all set. It just wasn't a great way to start the day and I wondered if it was one of those flukey things that just happened to me or if it is a common mistake.

By the way Moderators if this is not the right forum please move it, I wasn't sure where I should ask. Thanks!

Never had this happend to us in six trips to WDW. You must be the lucky one! :rotfl:

I've never had it happen, but there are probably several things that could cause that. Maybe a bad card writer at the resort, maybe just human error on the part of the CM, maybe the stripe was somehow erased.

Luckily our room has been ready both times we have arrived. But, our last trip I had to replace my card 4 times because it became deactivated. Your driver's license and credit cards can deactivate it if the magnetic strips touch.

My son's PAP deactivated itself after being used once & he had to go to GR to get a new one. At first the CM at the gate was trying to tell us it was expired - he was looking at the date & not getting the year right.

That's the closest we've come to that situation.

We had a lot of trouble with our kids' APs last November, however this May we didn't have ANY trouble. I could see why in our son's case, he's still growing, however our 16 year old isn't! Go figure....:) At least they didn't make you go back to the resort. Now that would've made me mad.

DisneyGirl, were you at TL in June when this happened? I remember seeing this happen to someone one morning when I was there in early June.

I had something similar happen to me in February. I had an old hopper pass and I wasn't sure if I had any days left on it. I checked at at the Ticket booth before the monorail at MK (for the life of me, I can't remember what that place is called :confused3 ) and I was told I had one day left. I headed over and put it through the ticket thing in the turnstile, where it said I had no days left. The CM let me into the park and brought me over to Guest Relations on Main Street. It turns out I had Plus Passes left, not Park Passes. I had to fight my battle at first because I had been told I had passes left. But I honestly didn't remember and I didn't mind paying for the one day pass. But it was embaressing having to debate a little with the CM. She was very professional about it and I never felt like she was saying I was wrong.

Well it did happen in June, but on the 18th at MGM Studios. I guess crazy things like this do happen once in awhile. I am just glad I am not alone. :goodvibes

I don't think it was the magnetic strip though 'cause when I went to guest relations the CM said the tickets and dining had not been downloaded onto the cards (all four cards were empty not just one). MGM Guest Relations could not fix it, it had to be done at the resort, so she gave us each a complimentary 1 day park hopper. If I remember correctly on that first day the four of us went through about 20 cards trying to get it fixed. I am just glad we got all of our problems out of the way on the first day, the vacation was great after that.
