Everyone at my office thinks I am crazy, but they are very supportive and love to hear my stories. Alas they will have to hear yet another in about a 2 weeks.
We have friends who have a timeshare in Aruba. Guess where they trade every year? Somewhere's close to WDW. They have viewed all of the DVC resorts and I think if they could, they would now trade for DVC. Most other time shares do not hold their value and to sell and buy into DVC would cost a lot of money. They did check into trading into DVC and the exchange company basically said forget, you'll never get in.
A co-worker was down a few weeks ago and I encouraged them to view BW, which is our home resort. When they came back they wanted more info on DVC. But they too own a time share, in kissimmee, and once again to sell and buy in to DVC would be a lot.
But one thing is for sure, once someone see's what DVC is all about they never say to you again "why on earth do you keep going there" because they know why.
Originally posted by normr , I just read a great post of people using their points for what sounded like a great exchange for a week stay in Spain for only 98 points, and that was only using up their bankd points from a resale they bought, they are now gearing up for their first DVC stay in November, ( 2 great vacations thanks to DVC)
Yep, and we're already planning a cruise next year (DCL or Alaska) and I think DH would really like to go to the Star Wars Weekends next year and we'd love to exchange to the UK or Austria or Spain and spend a week touring on the motorbike and I think a week relaxing at Vero sounds great and, and, and ...... all for the price of our airfare.
Over here in Europe people can hardly conceive WDW as all they know is DLP so usually I just say Florida (great weather and total relaxation). I have given tips to other people though, until they tell me to shut up after 3 hours of "look for the hidden Mickeys" and "did you know the props on Big Thunder are all original mining tools"
I have a friend that would never go to WDW because she considers it all about them trying to get your money. I was accused of being a bad influence on my grandchildren because I plan on taking them often. Ouch.
Now, I must work with a very different group than you all. Maybe because we are all programmers. I find that the Disney people are in the majority. They don't say anything until they come into my office and find all the Mickey stuff. Then they confess that they too, love Disney.
There are several off us that have a minor consulting business in Disney vacations. Whenever someone is going, they stop by or email us for suggestions. It has gotten bad enough that I have a standard email I send back that I only have to make a few changes to each time.
It is a lot of fun and it shows us that we have something in common!
