Probably a stupid question, but here goes...

What is the likelihood that someone who owns a timeshare elsewhere could trade into a Disney location through Interval?

Which would be impossible times, and which would be possible times.

Thanks for your help!! princess:

My BIL has traded his Marriott timeshare into Disney. Once in March and once in October. Both times into Boardwalk.

My mom has a marriott ts thru interval, and we happened to luck out and get Disney HHI studio for feb. vacation week.. We called to see if we should wait to see if a 1 br comes up, but the rep on the phone said we were probably lucky to get anything DVC, and to take it.

Thanks for your replies. Kinda what I thought....a possibility in the off season if your TS has enough trading power, but impossible during high season! :rolleyes1

And also often a trade down. That is, trading a 2-B/R and getting only a 1-B/R at DVC, or trading a 1-B/R and getting a Studio in exchange.

Actually almost anything can trade into HH DVC for Dec to early to mid March excluding Xmas and usually for a 2 BR.

Jan, early Feb, March, Sept, Oct, early Nov, and early Dec are not that hard to get into DVC. Some are easier than others and Sept and Jan are the easiest overall. Most are studios and 1 BR , I've traded in a number of times. I have a 1 BR for BWV for Sept gotten this way and a 1 BR for Jan as well. Most will be OKW & SSR but I've seen all resorts show up including 4th of July and a fair amount of early June and late August. It does take a certain amount of trade power AND resort quality (QRS-Quality Rating System) to be successful but there are other factors. Two of the factors which can work in your favor at times include the number of deposits and how close you are to the date you're looking at. In the last 2-3 months it's easier to get anything. If there are multiple units for DVC, it's also easier to qualify wit a given trade offering or deposit.

I run trade tests essentially every day and many times with multiple different deposits from a tip top trading 2 BR to a lower rated red studio and all in between. It is interesting what you can see with one deposit that you can't with another.

Dean,
Are you the same Dean from TUG? Hey, it's me again! Our friend is still trying to get into a 2BR Disney Villa the July 4th week with her 2BR MFV Platinum. Does she have a chance?

Good to know about the other months not being impossible though. Maybe even I, with a Gold MGV could trade in during the slower times. princess:

This is me. The chance is essentially zero for your friend. DVC almost never deposits that time and a 2 BR would be almost unheard of. Unfortunately for you as a Grand Vista owner, DVC blocks trades from other areas timeshares. So it could be sitting there and not accessible to you,

I own a timeshare in NH and exchange through II. I've stayed at OKW 1BR once (in January) and just today I saw a 1BR at BCV and requested it (it is our February school vacation 2/24/07-3/3/07). I have received a confirmation # but not the confirmation certificate yet, I'm crossing my fingers hoping all goes well (the unit was removed from the available options on II). So it is possible to trade into Disney, you just have to keep looking (I checked yesterday and there wasn't any on II) and take what you can get!

To the OP:

This is how we got our upcoming week @ OKW, through Interval, a very good friend of the family checked the website and showed my DH, he offered us to rent his points and so we did.

He also said it was highly unusual that a 1br unit would be available at this time of year. To us it is sheer magic and pure happiness as we had already cancelled our trip due to my kneeinjury and upcoming surgery.

It was a sign to us that it was vacant/available, to go on our trip...now here is where we'll get totally spoiled by our stay at OKW and want to become DVC-members too.

How can you ever get used to going back to moderate/value after staying at a DVC-resort? ;)

We're blessed and looking forward to our stay so much, even if I'll be hobbling or sitting in a wheelchair, OKW is a gorgeous resort on pictures and we can't wait to go! :sunny:

I have traded multiple times into OKW, DWL and SSR for my timeshares in Mexico. I can trade my 2 bedroom (whole or in parts) for up to 3 weeks in Disney. Not a bad value :)
