Has their ever been a slipper exchange?

I am fairly new here so I don't know what exchanges there are in place already, but I was wondering if any one can tell me if there has ever been a slipper exchange?

I thought of this because I got the cutest pair of Tinkerbell slippers in the mail from my SiL. Also all the stores are becoming flooded with slippers from really fancy ones that are almost too pretty to wear, to fun and funky character ones, and everything in between. The prices aren't horrible either at places like Kohls, Payless, Target, etc.

Anyways like I said if anyone can tell me if this has been done before I'd like to know how it went and if it's being done again.
If it hasn't, is it a good idea or no?

Yes, it's been done before. I think it was called the-Flip Flop Exchange.
You could try doing a search on it for the sent/recieved thread to see what was given and recieved.

I meant slippers like for around the house (not flip flops), the ones they are coming out with in the stores now for Christmas? Like soft furry ones or those funky character ones. Know what I mean? I may not be explaining myself very well.

Anyways if anyone understands my rambling and knows if there's ever been a house slipper exchange let me know. I'll try to do a search too. Thanks guys.

I haven't been involved with the exchanges long, it may seem that way (lol) but really I don't do many. I don't ever remember a slipper exchange before, but that would be a good one.

You can try....but there are so many going on right now, that none of them are drawing the numbers they should...except maybe the Christmas ones

True they are not getting as many sign-ups, but that may be a good thing for her since it would be her first time at hosting one.


mommau4, if you want to take at shot at hosting an exchange, take a look at the other ones going on now to see what you need as far as having people sign-up and you can pm any of the hostesses and ask questions, they are very friendly and helpful.

I'm bumping this up just to see if there is any real interest out there. I'd feel horrible if I started an exchange and no one wanted to do it.

Yes, I think it's a great idea and I'd definately be in if you hosted it. I think that if you want to do it, go for it. Heck, even if there are only 5 exchangees, it would still be fun and like mentioned above, a small swap may be good since you've never hosted before. I've never hosted either, but pretty much, I think you do a post stating sign ups and the date sign ups are through, the amount and the due date. Then everyone who wants to join will pm you and when sign ups are over, you mix the names up and assign people with their buddy, then pm them that info. Then you just need to post a sent/received thread. Am I missing anything?

I think I'd join a slipper exchange. It might be nice to do it after the Christmas exchanges have died down a bit, there are an awful lot going on right now. People might be more receptive to it after Christmas when all they have to look forward to is the long dreary winter. Slippers will make anyone feel better.

I think I am going to take the advice of Trish5768 and go ahead and do it but wait a little bit until after the holidays.

All the cute bedroom/house slippers (whatever they are called!) should still be in the stores and might even be on sale or clearance! Even better for our empty wallets.

I'm thinking I'll post it right after Christmas and that will be a fun simple thing to look forward to after all the happy chaos of the holidays. Something to brighten the dreary January weather.

So keep your eyes open for it to appear around that time. And if anyone has any advice for me I'd love to hear it.

**Also any of you who have hosted an exchange before I have one question. I get all of it except how to match people up. With all those names and PM's how do you then take them all and match them up. And what if it's an odd number of people? I need someone wiser to take pity on me and show me the way!

I think we both agreed this one would be a good one for right after Christmas so put aside a couple $$ for it and keep your eyes open around that time.

And don't ask anyone for slippers for Christmas!!!! I forbid it!
