Has the weather ever been too cold to swim at Castaway Cay?

I usually don't swim when it's below 80, but the last we went to CC last december, i swam all day long!
The weather was nice so was the water.

Our next disney cruise will be in February '16, hopefully i can enjoy the water to end a nice wedding ;)

:umbrella: Is the water temp the same in Nassau, in January, as it is at CC?

It can be hit or miss. Once in January we were sitting on the beach in sweatshirts and towels to keep warm and another time in January it was above 85.

Fingers crossed that when we go, we won't need sweats! :sad2:

We're at CC on the Wonder this November too and I praying it's Sunny and beautiful for our first time there! We've booked the stingray adventure so we'd all be so disappointed if it's just so freaking cold in the water!

We were at Castaway in January, and while the weather was perfect (high 70s and sunny), the water temperature was too cold for me. My husband and kids thought it was fine though once they got used to it.

We're going back this January so I'm hoping it's a little warmer!

This past January it was about 68-70 the day our ship was docked at CC. It was pleasantly warm, but not hot. Water was very cold, but some still swam.
We still enjoyed our cruise as our days in St. Thomas and Suan Juan were hot. But Florida and Bahamas not so much. Well... Bahamas including CC was warm, but Florida was cold. 58 when we sailed away, and about 62 when we came back. I was actually worried that it would be too cold on our cruise, but within hours of sailing it warmed up to 70.

We went in mid November and the water was tooooo cold for us. We are all Floridians, though. We also sailed in late Oct one year and it was too cold for me, but the kids swam. We aren't really beach people, though, so my kids are happy to swim on the ship. Well, "swim." ;)

I was there in very early February 2015. The weather was chilly (for "summer") but this Northeast family had a blast! Until the rainstorm hit....and even then we had fun running back to the ship. The "Bahamian Rain Storm" is still one of the most talked about things from our cruise!!

The water was too cold for me personally in late March 2013. Kids were in, but not too many adults. Was a beautiful outside temp and sunny day, but definitely a chill to the water.

I am another person who doesn't like to swim in cold water. It has been too cold for me to swim at Castaway Cay in Dec (2 trips) and January (1 trip). For one of our December trips it was windy, rainy and cold, not a pleasant day on the island at all.

We were there in February 2013 and it was 80 outside and sunny. The water was little chilly but there were lots of people in it.

What about late November and early December? We have a cabana -- should we cancel it?

We're playing around with a Disney cruise (our first) for winter Jan or February and wondered if it's ever been too cold to swim on Castaway Cay given it's location parallel with Fort Lauderdale?

Many thanks!
We were there around New Years 2014 and the water was beautiful. You wanna feel cold water try Maine in the middle of July. My feet are still numb.

Oh, my this is a surprise. I thought the water temp at CC is warm all year round!. How is the temps in November? When the water is too cold to enjoy, is it worth it to reserve a cabana? My family is going to CC on Thanksgiving, and we plan to get a cabana.

We cruised early Nov last year and the water at CC was a bit too cool for me to enjoy comfortably. Not cold exactly--but not Bahama warm either!!!

So we did not really enjoy the Cabana at SB.

The year before we went to CC late October--and the water was nice and warm.

So--who knows????

We have cruised in Feb for the last 5 years and other than last year when we didn't get to dock because of the weather, we have been swimming on CC each year. One year a water spout dumped its rain on us but it still wasn't cold. Not as warm as in the Caribbean obviously, but pleasant beach weather and much warmer water than we ever get at home, even in the middle of summer :))

According to a chart I found, the average highs (air) and the average sea water temps in the winter months at Castaway Cay are as follows.

December
Air:76 Sea:75

January
Air:74 Sea:73

February
Air:74 Sea:73

March
Air:77 Sea:75

That being said, we were there in early February 2014 and the water was a little chilly for me but the kids and many others spent the whole day in the water. We were back again the first week of March 2015 and the water temps definitely felt warmer to me.

Nervous about our Dec 18th cruise to CC :(
Don't be nervous, we are taking our first cruise as well on 12/17/15. The way I figure it, even if the water is too cold. Just sit back, relax in your chair, & enjoy the view with a drink in your hand. I am not at work, I am not at home doing chores....... Just relax.......

Yes, I would like to swim also, but either way, I will be relaxing !!!! Can't wait !!!
