Has the park close when it rains?

I don't think so. Once my sister was there and school was cancelled due to rain (flooding) and the parks were open. Her kids thought it was hilarious that schools would close because of rain. (We live in WI)

Not at all, they stay open and kind of create a different type of experience.

It closed due to Hurricane warning once while I was there. 1999 I think. We depleted our cache of adult beverages stored in the room that day....

The park will not close, however certain rides and attractions may close depending on the severity of the storm and lightning.

They'll only possibly close during a hurricane. Definitely not for rain. The waterparks also stay open in the rain, but they will close for low (<60 F) temperatures.

Maybe the OP heard a rumor that they close.

Rain at Walt Disney World and other theme parks can be fun. A lot of people leave and lines get short. We rode Expedition Everest in the rain 3 times in a row one time. It was fun! (Medium to light rain with no lightning) A large percentage of attractions at WDW are indoors.

Most theme and amusement parks do not close in the rain, including Six Flags, I assume you mean that many outdoor rides close. Parks will close rides that are unsafe to operate due to the rain or the possibility of lightning.

There are also extreme circumstances where local extreme weather will cause a park to close (tornadoes, hurricane, extreme heavy rain with flooding) but these are very rare.

From Wikipedia: "Since opening day, Magic Kingdom has been closed temporarily because of five hurricanes: Floyd, Frances, Charley, Jeanne, and Wilma. It was also closed from mid afternoon September 11, 2001 to September 12, 2001 due to the 9/11 terrorist attacks."

Some of those closures were for part of the day. Epcot closed once due to a power failure in 2002. It has to be a hurricane direct hit for Disney to close. Several other hurricanes have hit Florida and Disney did not close.

I agree. For some reason this poster regularly posts really off the wall questions in all of the areas of this forum. Very odd.

We were at Magic Kingdom in June 2013 when a tropical storm came through. We had to take shelter at TMRR for an hour until the rain and lightning slowed enough to even allow us to leave the park safely. It was about 5pm and they closed early that day. It rained off and on the rest of the week, but no other closures.
