Has the Dis become

a magnet for trolls? Is it me or has there been an extraordinary amount of trolling going on here. I'm not here much because twins are keeping me really busy, but every time I come to just read, someone is getting "outed".

The weird thing is that they are not even "new". Who the hell has the time to make up a persona for the internet. I can't even keep up with the real me, let alone trying to impersonate a fake me.

I think it all goes in cycles. Either that or the trolls are so bored, they know how long to back off before they pop up again.

Simple Terms - People are weird.

And weird people feed off other weird people, and it perpetuates the cycle.

You know what is odd, IMO, is the time spent on different identities. I would swear that I have read the same person posting under multiple names on several occasions.

It is the internet. Why bother having a "nice persona", an "evil persona" and personas to agree or disagree with those! Are people who troll for trouble the same as trolls?

You know, I wouldn't say. I might be totally wrong, and embarass myself and others.

What I do know is that the several years I spent teaching 8th grade english taught me to look for similarities in writing, and significant time was spent busting those writing papers for others! I don't think that people really change the way they write when they want to hide on this board. (Blatant examples would be the many threads recently re. marriage issues, etc.)

Well, you have to watch those generalizations. A poster here tried to imply that I sent him anti-gay e-mails because he thought my writing style was similar to that of the e-mails. He said they had the same errors in grammar and spelling, but he never told me what those were so that I could correct them. Anyway, he was dead wrong, so I applaud you for not jumping to conclusions on a public forum.

You know its funny that you say that, I bet some do. I will be honest, on more then one occasion I have wanted to respond on a post but didn't because I didn't want to come across as being too harsh or mean, although it was just my opinion. Having an alterego... now that could come in handy... just use it when you have "evil persona" things to say. Liberation to some Im sure. hmmm be on the lookout for "EVILPoohgirl" coming to a dis forum near you....

We have lots of trolls over at my DMB board. Usually they are members of another message board who want to proclaim they are better than we are..very childlike!

I've actually gotten PM's from freaks trying to drag me into their troll games on other boards that I don't go to and don't care about, and then ahve made crazy accusations about and towards me when I didn't play along. One I reported to a mod because I think they were truly psychotic.

I think there are a handful of spiteful, nasty people on the Dis with too much time on their hands that need to find something at least relatively constructive to do with their time--maybe floral arranging?

I think there are also a handful of people who have mental illnesses or defects who could benefit from a handful of antipsychotics or therapy.

And I think there are another handful of people who are just kooks or freaks, or have a hidden agenda that hasn't been realized yet.

But all in all I think the people on the Dis are a nice community.
