Has the DDP caused the buffets to raise their prices?

Over the past few years I have noticed that some of the buffets in WDW like Chef Mickey's, Ohana and Boma have raised their prices for both breakfast and dinner. I was wondering is this because of the Disney Dinning Plan to account for guests using their credits, or was it just time for the prices to be raised?

I don't think that the DDP is the reason, I think just like with everything else the prices have gone up. We've noticed prices on a lot of things have gone up and some of the portion sizes have gone down (darn them!). :headache:

Speaking of portion sizes why is it that they have gone down? Plus if a buffet restaurant or a sit down restaurant raised their prices and is serving smaller portions how fair is that, especially to guests who are not on the DDP. That does not seem fair to me.

We noticed smaller portions at Nine Dragons last spring, we used to be able to split the dinnrt for two with our two girls supplimenting with an extra order of spring rolls. This last meal there were I kid you not, no more than 12 nites of sesame chicken on the platter! We never do the dining plan so this coupled with the price of the meal made us wonder the same thing. Seems almost as if they're shoving the DDP down your throats!

I know WDW would never do this but I remember a thread a few months ago when someone suggested they have seperate menus for guests on the DDP and a seperate menu for guests not on the DDP. I think the reasons were why should guests not on the DDP have to suffer threw the same lack luster meals, since the DDP has changed the way the restaurants now serve their portion sizes and everything else. Thinking about that it does not sound like a bad idea, however like I said before I don't think WDW would ever do this.

I agree, we refuse to do the DDP because we as a family of four would pay (right now) ~$130 per day for food. We skip breakfast, usually have CS for lunch and frequently share off the adult menu with our DDs for dinner. rarely does our daily food budget hit $130 a day. Plus I think it would encourage us to stuff ourselves!

I think buffet prices go up every year. Somewhere I have receipts from 1994 and a character breakfast was much, much cheaper back then!

How can the DDP be to blame for inflation? Every year prices go up in all countries so does that mean I can blame the ddp for prices rises everywhere as for portion size I am sure I read some health organisation nagging at resteraunts to reduce portion size due to the obesity epidemic. The ddp makes sense for me as a solo travellor because I can't share with anyone and I am sure I would spend more than $38 in a day.
