Has the cost of concert tickets kept you away...

The only person I'd pay to see is Springsteen. Otherwise I can't see spending all that money for an hour or so show.

I rarely go to concerts anymore.

I bought my DW tickets to see Cher in September. The cost for 3 of us??? $255 !!!!!!

Ugh.

We hardly ever go to concerts. Not too many headliners around here and the cost of tickets are unbelievable. When DH and I were dating, he took me to see Anne Murray (my favorite) and we went to a George Strait concert. Other than that nothing .......UNTIL.........my DD 11 became obsessed with SHania Twain.

I found out by accident she was goiing to be in KC and we got tickets. I think it averaged around $100 a ticket. We were nice and close, but not on the floor. It was a surprise for DD, and she ended up and got sick half a block from the parking garage. Said she felt better so we went on in. Had aisle seat so that helped.

She enjoyed it and that is all that matters. The things we dont do for our kids.

Styxx was the first concert I went to when I was 14. I am pretty sure I paid under $10.

We paid $60 to see Aerosmith this last April. I hadn't been to a concert in awhile, but I wasn't too shocked at the price "but" I almost fell over when I saw how much tshirts were. $45????

Wanted to go to Van Halen this fall but tickets are $90 even for the nosebleed sections. UGH! Saw Sammy back in the day so I am over it, so I decided to buy F&W Party for the Senses tickets instead :)

Off to Kenny Chesney this Friday at $65 a pop, but it will be sooooo worth it :goodvibes

I don't go to concerts for several reasons.

1. They are usually held in Calgary which is a three hour drive from here. So three hours there, three hours back, plus time to relax and to see the show... just not worth the time.

2. Because of the location, I'd probably be better off getting a hotel room for the night.

3. The tickets are extremely expensive.

If stars want me to buy their CD's and to watch their concerts then they need to lower the prices. Until that time, i'll just download the music and performances for free on the internet.

Maybe it's because I'm a bit clued in to the not so popular music scene, but A LOT of bands that I want to see are maybe 25 dollars a ticket MAX. And it's not because they are a band noise band either.

But I do agree that a lot of big bands tickets are over priced. Most of them being pop performers and some err, "old-school" rock bands. I think that paying 70 dollars a ticket with out the charges it outrageous for a bad set, and it's really just for a the pyro.

There are some bands who do make things a bit more equal. and lessen the prices. Like Blink-82 did the One Dolla Bill tour, where tickets cost a dollar each so people could have the change to see them.

I took DD to see N'Sync a couple of years ago and paid $60 a ticket. I only bought them because she loved them so much. I won't pay that much to go to a concert because I always end up mad at the people around me that stand up and prevent me from seeing the performers. I'll save my money for CDs.

Feralpeg, I'm sure you've given your daughter a night to remember forever. I've been a No Doubt fan since I was five, and now I'm 13, turning 14 in December. My parents make sure that I see them everytime they are in town, and you have no idea how much that means to someone.

Tinkerbellish,

Actually, I'd probably pay money to see N'Sync again if they were to perform. I really enjoyed their concert. I have to say that the young kids at that concert were much better behaved than many adults at other concerts I've attended. I hope you continue to get to see No Doubt in the future!

Well, this spring my husband paid over $160. for the two of us to see Tom Jones. What a shame that I found his concertboring, not that I would tell DH that. I felt bad that we had spent so much money, were in the back row of theatre, and the songs Tom chose were dull (lots of special musical effects but it seemed designed to not strain his voice). After all, he is 64 now. SO what he did do was remarkable but I didn't find myself getting into the concert.

I've been to serveral concerts (though not for many years now because of the prices).

The Beach Boys cost about $20 a ticket and they played to sold out stadiums when they used to come to the city.

I won free tickets to see Tom Cochrane. I usually loved him but I wouldn't have paid for tickets. I'm glad I didn't, he was boring.

54/40 wasn't worth the time of day. At $40 a ticket, it better be a much better concert.

New Kids on the Block were $60 a ticket when I went to see them (obviously I was around 12 or so lol). That was expensive. My mom kept refusing us but we wouldnt lay off so eventually she gave in.

I haven't been to a concert since. Not that there aren't people I would love to see but they charge an arm and a leg. For me to see a concert, it would probably cost me around $300 for tickets, driving and hotel.

When Janet Jackson was last here, she was $70 a ticket and Aerosmith (whom I would LOVE to see) was $80. No wonder people download the stuff from the net instead. They charge WAYYYY too much.

The only time I have ever paid a large amount for tickets ($75) and felt it was worth it was when I went to go see Phantom of the Opera at the Pantages Theatre. That was worth every penny and I would pay it again.

Nope. If I want to see someone I pay what it takes. I bought Jerry Seinfeld tickets for DH on his birthday last year. I paid $350 off Ebay for them. I love Ebay as I can just go there and bid on them instead of standing in line. I get great front row seats. I just bought Norah Jones tickets off Ebay for $300 for DH's Father's Day present. While I do think the concert halls and performers are charging too much to begin with I have no problems with paying a premium from a private person.
