I'm just curious because I hear a lot of legitimate complaints on the various boards about the Disney Transportation system yet when we were there in the past, I never had a problem with it.

In fact, we were there last October (AS sports) and the buses were fine with me except couldn't catch one from Downtown Disney (waited about an hour I think) and maybe one night in the past when we stayed at CBR we waited a long time at night leaving from one of the parks.

But overall, we never waited more than 20 mins and usually much less than that. I like not having to wait for a rental car and all but I'm wondering if perhaps things have really declined drastically in the past year???

Thanks,

Pam

WL in October '01---Woohoo!

We were there in April and the system was about the same, sometimes you luck out and get a bus within a few minutes and other times it takes 45 minutes or so!!! I would say that it is the same as a year ago.

I was going to ask this exact question!!!:bounce:

We waited longer for buses this trip. Twice over 45 minutes!!:(

If the normal headway is 20 minutes (most Disney routes) and one bus fails to show up, then there is a 40 minute gap.

I don't know for sure but it appears that Westside Downtown Disney gets poorer service because buses get full and skip that stop.

Often Disney pulls a bus off one route and sends it somewhere else. This has been done for years and still occurs, only briefly recently was this publicized, expanded upon, and named "Bus On Demand".

We didn't see much of a difference from staying at BWV last October to staying in May. A CM was tracking which bus people were waiting for in the mornings. I asked if it was for "Bus on Demand." She said it was and that BOD had been suspended for the summer and would be started again in the fall. She said that when they attempted to begin using the BOD program, it was just too busy a time at the parks and they needed more research. She was using a palm pilot and logging the info into it. Hopefully, with the info they accumulate, Bus On Demand will return this fall better than its original debut!

We were at BWV the last week in May/first week in June. The busses were about the same as they have always been. As for Bus On Demand, the CM at the Boardwalk told us that the system was working and we saw the results. There were many people waiting for a Magic Kingdom bus. The BOD CM told us that he had called for another bus on his handheld. Two MK busses were there in about 5 minutes.

I'm just curious because I hear a lot of legitimate complaints on the various boards about the Disney Transportation system yet when we were there in the past, I never had a problem with it.

People have different opinions about what "adequate" bus service should be. Some people will not be satisfied unless there is an empty bus waiting for them whenever they decide to go somewhere. I would trust your own experiences before relying on some of these "legitimate" complaints.
