Has Spectromagic Changed?

I just got back from Disney today and we saw Spectromagic Monday night. I seem to remember it differently. I also saw it 2 years ago in January and I remember a large dragon and a large villians float. These are not in it now. Am I just remembering wrong?

When we went in Dec. both of those floats were in the parade...however, we saw some floats that we didn't remember from before.

Perhaps they do rehabs on a few floats at a time so the parade isn't affected??

I was there on Monday also and noticed the same thing! I was there with 4 other people who had never seen Spectro before and they all thought I was crazy for noticing a missing float!

I also noticed a lot of lights out on the floats. Must be I look too closely at these things!

I recall reading here that some of the floats were too large to fit past the walls that have been constructed around the hub.. such as the Dragon.. (is that what it is???) cause it's wing span was too large to fit around the circle.... apparently.. the day that they put up the walls...they never figured in the running of spectro... sooo owhen the parade started that night.. it got up to the hub.. and stopped dead in its tracks.. they couldn't fit the floats around... so.. they had to move people back.. and let them ride a bit on the sidewalks.. and told the Dragon float not to open it's wings... So.. I guess they had to take those floats out until the walls come down...Just a guess...

Dragon? There's no dragon in Spectro....there's Pete's Dragon who was in the Electric Parade. I think you may be thinking of Churnabog- the Fantasia character. His float has still been there, but I am unsure if the wings still open.

If you just saw it recently though, you're right about missing floats- Ariel's float has been in the shop!

I perform in Spectro at least once a week, and I've never heard of anything about floats not being able to get by. The parade has just been re-routed so it doesn't circle the hub, and that was planned in advance.

Yeah.. that guy... the fantasia character.. the dark one that noone ever seems to know who it is!! LOL!!! You have to admit.. he does resemble a dragon! Best description I could think of! As far as the floats not being able to get by.. do a search on the boards... someone posted about this happening while they were there recently... just reporting what I read.

The Chernobog float (hes a gargoyle) can only open its wings twice in the whole parade... once in frontierland and once going over the bridge onto main street pass the castle... those are the only two places theres enough space for him to open...

Ok I saw Spectro on Jan 20th and watched it under the train station on the right side facing north and I have a pic of Chernaobog with his wings open that night so maybe he can open them in a few diff places? I did see Spectro at the start of frontierland end of Liberty Square in Oct 2004 and he did open his wings there. Spectro has really started to grow on me after this trip, but I do miss the MSEP!

It's okay... I go with the flow.. but i was just pointing out how sometimes how we type can sometimes sound intimidating... so... we should ALL be aware of that.. I am sure you meant no harm.. but thanks for the acknowledgement!.... it's good to have you around filling us in on some of the good stuff!!! Thanks again!

And btw... Spectro is still my all time favorite also.... closely followed by Wishes.... I will sit for 2 hours to have a good spot.. even now... although I have seen it MANY times over and over!! LOL!!!
