Has Sci Fi Improved Any?

I've always heard poor review of the Sci Fi Restaurant. I was wondering if anyone has eatenthere recently and enjoyed it? We're trying to figure out where to make our ADR's for our August trip with the Dining Plan.

TIA!

We really enjoyed our lunch at Sci Fi last May and are planning to visit aging this May. Granted, we only had burgers and shakes but everything was very good. The atmosphere and car seating was a lot of fun for our kids.

I haven't noticed any trend in the reviews that would indicate that the food quality has improved. Until I see a notable difference in the reviews, I won't waste my money or time there (or incur the calories either! :))

we ate there on our trip dec 05 and it was truely horrible from the moment we arrives to the moment we left. We had ADR's and were sat a good half hour past time and then not at the table I had reqquested, on top of that they were sitting walk ups before us. Waitress was the absolute worst took 15 min to even acknowledge us then another 10 to come to table, might I add that it waas not that busy. I waitressed for 16yrs so I can comment on this with some experience. She was rude and ignorant. and we were paying for our meal not on plan. ordered burgers and shakes and both sons would not eat burger took a bite and they were so gross that they refused to eat. I ate bun and toppings. Waitress never came to check on ou meal and then brought the bill. I paid but should not have because we did not eat it. I was just soo upset at the whole experience that I paid and we left did not want to waste any more of our day in this horrible place.

I guess it depends on when you go. We went last February and it was great. We arrived an hour early for our dinner ADR since it was cold, raining and we had run out of other things to do with our five-year-old. (We had been there since early morning.) We were seated in ten minutes tops and our waiter was wonderful. The food was good too. My only complaint is that it's dark in there and I kept having to hold my food up to the "dash light" to see what I was eating. No problem with quality though and the movie kept my son occupied and happy.

Sorry, new here... but may I ask what reviews you are referring to? The few I've seen look good, but maybe I'm looking in the wrong place. :confused3

I ate lunch there last week with DD10 and DS9. Both kids ate from the kid's menu (their birthdays are one day apart and this was their birthday trip, so they were booked as 8 and 9). We had a great experience. The food was not gourmet, but it was perfectly acceptable. This is one of those "experience" restaurants which your kids will remember forever...it isn't the type place you choose for a romantic dinner for two. As long as you don't go there expecting a five star meal you should have a great time.

Our server was friendly and attentive. We did NOT meal-share at this restaurant because I had read someplace that the servings were small. BOY WAS THAT REVIEW WRONG! We could have easily fed 1-2 extra people from our leftovers. :sad2:

I ordered the onion rings appetizer. It was HUGE...enough to feed 3! My kids ordered the cheese and fruit plate appetizer. The plate came with two large chunks of cheddar cheese, a sliced apple, a handful of grapes, and a serving of mango yogurt dip. The plates looked small, but it was actually a lot of food because the cheese chunks were huge.

I ordered the ribs as my entree. They weren't the best ribs I've ever had, but they were good. It was supposed to be only a half rack, but it was the biggest half rack I've ever been served. The ribs came with mashed potatoes and broccoli. DS ordered the grilled chicked kid's meal. It was a whole chicken breast with mashed potatoes and broccoli. It was a lot of food. DD ordered the kid's pizza...it was standard individual pizza size, but after the appetizers she only ate 3 of the 4 slices.

For dessert I ordered the cheesecake, which was HUGE and excellent. It looked very festive the way that they served it. The cheesecake was surrounded by a plate of Cracker Jacks mixed with M&Ms and the entire thing was covered in caramel sauce. I didn't care to eat the Cracker Jacks or M&Ms because (1) I was way too full from lunch and (2) I didn't want to ruin a smooth, delicious cheesecake with crunchy snacks. My kids ordered sundaes for dessert and they were pretty large.

We left that meal filled to the point of discomfort.

IMO the atmosphere more than made up for the food quality.

I wouldn't hesitate to go back, but I didn't book it for my free dining trip...I opted for Mama Melrose Fantasmic Dinner Package instead. That was actually my first choice last time, but it was a last minute trip and all of the Fantasmic packages were booked.

Just search for Sci-Fi, or Sci Fi, or SciFi. You should find a ton of threads. It seems somebody starts a new thread about it ever day or two.

We had lunch there September 05 and I thought DH would enjoy the theme and the food would be so-so. I was surprised. Our wait was less than 10 min. and we waited outside which was nice. Our server was friendly and interacted with dd and ds. Food was very good from burgers to pasta. DD loved her special drink with a flashing ice cube. The movies were hilarious and kept kids entertained. We will go there this August for lunch again, because CS sucks at MGM. I have read better reviews of lunch at Scifi than dinner, not sure if it's just my observation.

My sister went to Sci Fi on her trip 3 weeks ago, the food was great, no complaints. My aunt is at WDW right now, spoke w/ her this morning, they had lunch there yesterday, she said the food was excellent!!!

We ate there Nov. 06 for dinner. The food was good. The waiter was good. The Atmosphere was good. We will go back on our 10th an. trip in 2 years. We will not be going this trip, but that is so we can go to 50's.

I live in Lafayette La. We expect good quality food and good wait staff (the Red Lobster closed because the food was not freash enough :sad2: ). I thought the Sci-Fi was well worth the money I paid (OOP). :thumbsup2

I've eatten there twice but it was 2 years ago, and also about a year and a half ago. I wasn't that impressed the first time, although the atmosphere is awesome and the shakes are great. I wanted to try it again so we went on the last day of our trip. The second time I ate there, I wasn't impressed either. The food was just "ok".This wouldn't be my first choice of restaurants in MGM, I tried Mama Melrose and liked it there much much better.

My advice, go to the Sci Fi for just a shake or dessert and enjoy the atmosphere, if you can. If you don't have time or the money for that, pass.

They have a pretty good shrimp penne pasta dish.

I think Sci Fi is like the Stitch ride, something everyone loves to complain about. I have eaten at Sci Fi twice (once way back in 1992) and once last September and I thought the food was decent and pretty good. I know food is a purely subjective subject- but I think people build it up in their mind that it will be bad so they psyche themselves out. I actually expected the worst and was pleasantly surprised. We went for lunch and I had the steak sandwich which I thought was good. You really just have to judge it for yourself- we went to 1900 Parke Faire for dinner which everyone raves about and I thought it was less than terrific. The atmosphere at Sci Fi is really fun and neat- worth the experience. Also, if cost is an issue, try to go for lunch instead of dinner- or just get shakes and desserts.

We have always loved Sci-Fi. Neat atmosphere and we have never had a bad meal or bad service. Burgers and shakes - always great!!

We've eaten at Sci-Fi every trip to disney and we've always had good service and we've always enjoyed our meal.

Like someone else said, I think :thumbsup2 it's one of those places everyone loves to complain about.

Try it yourself, you may enjoy it.

We ate there two weeks ago. Had wonderful service (and we had two cars of 11 people). Food was ok - apps were the best. Desserts were great too. Chicken was awful but the burgers, everyone said, were good. A couple of orders got messed up and our server was so funny. He told us since they messed up, dessert was on them (he knew we had the dining plan). Go for atmosphere; expect ok food and you'll be ok. It's a fun place for kids and adults.

the milkshakes tasted like standard shake machiene fare to me, I like hand dipped, they definently weren't. HOWEVER, our meals were YUMMY! I had the Ruben (well my husband will tell you I had a corned beef on rye, cause I left off the kraut, but that is another story) and he had a burger. We had an onion ring appetizer, and everything was good. The atmosphere is neat, and I would recommend trying it at least once.

We ate there last October and we LOVED it!
We weren't expecting more than hamburgers and onion rings, so we weren't disapointed! We are returning this year for sure!
