Has "Preferred Firework Viewing" been replaces by FP+?

When we booked out holiday, one of the magical extras that was included was admission to "Preferred Firework Viewing" at both MK and Epcot. We were very pleased with this, and were hoping to make use of the vouchers... but it occurs to me this might not be a valid offer anymore?

We definitely have something on our invoice including it, but does anyone know if they will still honour it now there is the option to use FP+ for the fireworks?

I think you have to ring and book it. Then when you get your documents just before you go you get a little big book of coupons and it's in there. I think. X

You do have to ring to book it. The locations are different to the ones offered for FP+ which are actually better than the package ones but I've booked them anyway

Where are they for the preferred viewing? Might save a FP+ if it is better next time

Confused! I just spoke to an American Disney agent and she said preferred is no longer and it's FP+ instead. Do you think if I call UK number I'll get a different answer ?

If it's true it doesn't surprise me. I don't see how they could have so many separate areas just firework viewing.

Hmmmm... I may try and call them tomorrow...

It's a bit naughty if you do need to ring and book it though- absolutely nowhere, on any of the paperwork I have from them, does it say it needs to be booked. It was listed as a Magical Extra when we booked, and included on our invoice. Nothing anywhere that it needed to be reserved or booked!

You do need to call and book. I did. They said you can't watch msep from the location though.
I can't seem to get a straight answer from them on if it is a separate location from the fp+ ones so please let me know what you find out.

Counting down to 14th May!

I just did a dummy booking and it isn't offered any more. I think they will just put you with the FP+ bookings. Which gives you an amazing view from the rose garden we used it 2 weeks ago and it was perfect view. I will definitely use it again.

In the link the bottom photo, bottom right there is a circled path the grass in front of that is where you stand. Not in the water where the location pin is LOL.

How did you do a dummy booking?

Preferred viewing is only available to book by phone though the WDTC UK number. It cannot, and never has been able to be done online. I have booked mine over the phone for both parks with no issues and was directed to be at the same locations as they always have been, 15 minutes prior.

If you phone Disney USA they will know nothing about this as this has only ever been offered to US guests who either had a promotional AAA voucher (no longer doing this) or those who booked the Platinum Package via Disney USA.

OP, I recommend that you phone and clarify if you'd like to keep your options open. Booking is recommended and although not always essential, space is very limited at both locations.

I'll try it tomorrow and let you know how I get on. When I've called WDTC UK in the past, the CMs are all American... Is that the right number to call to sort it?

Just to add, I made a change to our reservation due to a flight change at the end of last year, at which time FP+ was pretty much fully rolled out to all resorts in its testing phase, including the option to book parades and fireworks and my updated invoice from early December still shows this extra.

I can't see them not honoring it if they did not contact you about it. Without suggesting that this may not change, I do believe it is unlikely that it will and at best, I would expect an email or some form of contact from them, but have not received any. I will check again perhaps before booking FP+ in a couple of months but for now, I am satisfied that our reservations are valid as scheduled.

I think it is a shame if they do stop this - OP if you would be kind enough to update us when you speak to them please? :thumbsup2

If you make a new booking it is not listed in the Magical Extras now so I believe it is likely to be phased out...

When you choose a hotel, tickets etc it says the extras you receive for booking with disney world travel agents. Like 15% off at the disney store, money off at other locations at WDW. Preferred fire work viewings used to be listed. It is not any more. Is what I meant!

This is exactly what I meant sorry I wasn't clear enough in my own post.

I re read your post and I see what you meant now. I also misunderstood you when you said dummy booking and thought you meant a dummy booking to try book the viewing on your account. Ah, its a Saturday night - we're all excused :)

I've used the locations for preferred fireworks at Epcot and MK, haven't tried to book for this year yet, does anyone know where the FP+ ones are just to see if they are any better.

I just phoned Disney to pay my final bill and the 4th option was booking fireworks viewing reservation. I just called it back to see what they say but its closed at the moment. Should have asked the girl I was speaking to as although the dining line was closed she offered to make any dining reservations for me.

I just called, the lady went to check before trying to proceed, and she was told it now has to be done through FP+, it's no longer an option.
