I do not have kids-- and never plan on having them. Not b/c I can't I just never wanted them.

DH and I love to watch Nanny 911 and you always hear people joking that the show is a great form of birth control:lmao:

I was wondering if all of you out there that are on the fence about having kids- watch Nanny 911 and that convinced you that you should think twice about having them :confused3

Just curious:confused3

Eveyone else is welcome to put their 2 cents in also-- Not that I need to say that- b/c I know everyone will anyway:lmao:

I know you aren't asking me - but I have thought - "I'm glad I'm done having kids!!!" :rotfl:

It hasn't changed my mind about having kids, cause I'm done with that, but it has helped me deal with my two, who really are mostly well behaved. And they actually love watching it to see the "bad kids"

That show is about extremes... and is, as already said, about bad parenting. If you reprimand (sp?) your children the first time they do something they shouldn't, things don't get out of hand that much.

I still want children, and i'm quite sure I should be able to avoid that my kiddies act like that!

I didn't vote because I already have kids, but just remember, thats the extreme. While I have known some really bad parents before, I have never known any whose kids are THAT out of control.

Its like watching the bridezilla shows. There are brides out there that are like that, but I wouldn't not get married after watching these shows.

A co worker of mine has custody of her nieces. They are 2 and 4 and quite a handful. Their mom has done quite a number on their little minds.
Amy has had quite a time getting them to be "normal" and follow rules. Now, she will be giving them back to the mom probably in the next few months.
Everything she has worked on with those kids will go down the drain.

Amy said she did not want kids now that she has taken care of these two.
She just wanted it to be her and her DH. Well, yep, you guessed it! Monday she took a pregnancy test at work and she will have her own baby in November!! She is excited and scared but the work she has done on those two cute little girls should show her she can do it. She will be a great mom.

:rotfl2: It makes me longingly remember dd's childhood. If I only had THOSE problems to deal with instead of teenager problems. ;) I know I can handle those younger child problems.

Then maybe I should re-word it- Has the show made you think you might be a bad parent???:lmao:

Oh, those of us that say we don't see a little of ourselves in those parents are big liars.

I remember saying, "No, stop that, put that down, go to bed, sit down, we have to go now, I said now....etc etc etc" until I thought, "Oh, I don't even care what you anymore - do what you like!!!" :rotfl:

I watch from time to time, and usually just think---At least I'm not as bad as those parents, or at least my kids don't act like that. Or at least not ALL the time.

Kind of like watching the shows w/ the messy, filthy houses. Kind of reassuring, in a warped twisted way.

Not fencesitter but the show only reineforces the fact that I don't want them!:happytv: I say the same thing about it being "birth control." lol

That show is about bad parenting not bad children.

::yes::

Plus, if you are basing your life decisions on an extreme tv show then I think you have other issues to contend (with).

No, it makes me say "I made the right decision in NOT having any!" I can't even WATCH kids screaming like that for too long. Drives me nuts.

Ditto for me. I have only watched a couple of times. I realize I made the right decision not having kids. I love kids as long as they are good and someone elses.:rotfl2:

I always think that the next generation of parents (i.e. my generation) should in theory be excellent parents because they've been mobbed by these TV shows :rotfl:

I worked in day care for three years. Some days, that alone was an excellent source of birth control. That said, I learned how NOT to parent by being around some of those children and I think the same could be said for watching shows such as Super Nanny and Nanny 911. They are obviously the extreme, and while I hope I can say no child of mine will EVER act that way, the reality is I'm not going to know until I'm there.

I can't wait to have children some day.
