Has Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade gone downhill?

wasn't a big tradition growing up, and rarely have it on. Do very much enjoy the Rose Bowl parade, but that's about it for tv parade watching. I grew up in LA w Mardi Gras parades, and used to not even understand parades where they don't throw things.

Another thing that caused the parade to go downhill is that they changed the theme song from the iconic New York New York to On Broadway and that seemed odd to me and now the new theme song is a remix of New York New York that's the original Frank Sinatra instrumental. I hope that this year's Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade is great and improved so nicely
The parade has a theme song?

I saw parts of this year's parade and I find it shocking that they put singers from the 80's and 90's to perform in the parade. I noticed that Paula Abdul was in this year's parade and I cannot figure out why they put her in the parade? Does Paula Abdul have plans to release a new album next year? Because it seems that Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade likes to put iconic singers as a way to promote their new upcoming albums. And one thing Macy's should quit doing is having floats based on commercials because although I like commercial stuff a little of it is okay but not so much during the parade. Like why did Oil Of Olay have a float in the parade in the first place? I would perfer seeing a float sponsored by Wendy's that has Wendy herself waving to the crowd. But what I also think Macy's should do for next year's parade is not promote their own holiday floats and balloons so much because they overhype it way too much. Like last year they had Tiptoe The Holiday Reindeer and this year was a blue reindeer and if they had cartoon and movie based floats it would be cool indeed

In our household’s opinion it has went downhill over the last decade. I agree, too much lip sync singing. My DD advised me this year we shouldn’t watch it due to the excessive, unnecessary use of non renewable helium. I had to admit I never gave that a thought before.

It sucked this year. Way too much talking by the hosts, not enough stuff for the viewers to...view. Even my super calm, patient child was yelling "just shut up" at the TV.

I watched this year. I know there are legitimate reasons for doing the lip synch, such as the sound systems in the floats, but it would be nice if the artists could do it well. Some of them were really awful at it, and it’s so obvious when that’s the case. I wonder if they do a lip synch audition? If not, they should.

I didn’t know most of the singers, and the few I did know didn’t perform well. I also felt like we missed a lot of the parade due to the frequent and long commercial breaks. They need to do the advertising differently, maybe as a crawl at the bottom of the screen, so we can see the entire parade.

I enjoyed the parade, but there is a lot of room for improvement.

For me, all I want to see are the floats and the bands etc. I could care less who the hosts are and I don't like hearing them "talk" with the camera shots on them when there are floats walking in the background. I gave it 10 minutes of my time this year and once again I changed the channel.

I saw the intro of the 2022 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade on Youtube this morning and I cannot figure out why they needed to put Lea Michele singing Before The Parade Passes By from Funny Girl at the beginning of the intro and they should've had a better intro for the parade in my eyes. But with the absence of Al Roker Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie managed to do a great job with the parade. But I think what could really improve the parade is that they should quit having a Broadway showstopper for the intro and just have the ribboncutting start and that would do the parade a great deal of improvement. I also noticed that they have hired a new producer named Will Coss replacing Amy Kule and I think with his help the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parades will return to normal and be great to watch again. I LOVE starting my morning watching retro Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parades on Youtube year-round because the retro parades are so much fun to watch and my mom loves them too

Macy’s is definitely still a store. Every major mall around here has one. The flagship Herald Square store is an icon for over 160 years, and I can’t imagine it closing. Macy’s also produces the huge NYC 4th of July fireworks show.
I don’t see Macy’s closing anytime soon. But another iconic NYC chain, Lord & Taylor, in business longer than Macy’s, did close. I think their flagship store closed a few years before the rest of the chain.

I saw an announcement of about 25 Macy’s stores slated to close in 2023. Maybe they should have stuck with being a NYC regional chain instead of going nationwide.
