In November 2016, during the free dining promotion, my husband and I and another couple were able to stay at the Boardwalk for five nights with 5-day park hoppers for $3,937.24. We are not planning a trip this year, but just out of curiosity I priced out the same trip under the current free-dining promotion = $4,930.76. Have things really gone up that much in 3 years, or am I doing something wrong? We enjoyed our stay there so much and was very hopeful that we might be able to return someday, but not at these prices.

Do know there is no such thing as free dining at Disney. With that promotion, you are paying for a non-discounted room.

Yes. Rack rates at the deluxe and ticket prices, (especially with the introduction of date based tickets) have gone up considerably in three years.

Of course youre paying for a non-discounted room...you cant double dip on discounts. There is such thing as free dining because it actually does work for some families. It all depends on the number of people in your party, and where you stay. Sometimes people come out much cheaper on the free dining deal.

Cheaper, yes. *Free*, no. It’s just a discount over the total price if you were to purchase hoppers, buy the dining plan and pay rack rate for the room. *Free* is a marketing ploy. You’re paying for it, you just might be paying less than if you were to put together a trip piecemeal with tickets from a 3rd party and a good room-only discount with dining plan added.

That sounds about right. In March 2017 our total package was $2,264.17. Our total price right now for November 2019 is $1,921.78 for 3 nights less.

We are estimating at least double that for 2021 since we KNOW pricing is going to go up for the 50th anniversary - no big deal really to us - its a businses and prices go up

We were still recovering from the 2008 recession in 2010. The parks were also in a state of stagnation while capital was poured into Shanghai Disney. Disney was offering very good discounts at the time to attract visitors to the domestic parks.

Now, we’re in the middle of an economic boom and Disney is pouring money into its US parks. Should there be another recession, they will once again offer significant discounts and curtail development to maintain revenue. But you aren’t comparing apples to apples when you point to a 10-year-old trip that you took when discounts were steep and compare it to a non-discounted package in 2020.

Well, it's nothing to get upset about for a certain income bracket, for sure. But for many people, it's upsetting to be priced out of your favorite vacation destination.

I'm glad for the people for whom these price increases aren't a big deal - I wish I could say the same!

Whoa. That’s a lot of money for 2 at Pop. Do you have a lot of add ons like dessert parties/tours that drive that price up?

Yeah, seems right. Tickets are higher, food is higher, hotels are higher. So your total is going to be higher.

There's practically nothing that hasn't gone up tremendously in 10 years. Disney is not alone

Im going next week for 5 days with 3 people and its almost 10k with flight. Disney is not a cheap hobby. (Wish it was... lol)

It’s technically free is you’re one who usually pays rack rates. Some ppl don’t wait for discounts.
