I have been checking the weather in Florida and it seems like it has been raining all week after week after week. Is it more like afternoon thunder shower or it like thunder storm all day everyday?

I'm getting worried. I don't do well when there's a thunderstorm. I don't mind the afternoon storm when I know it will only last for a an hour or two. But thunder storm with lightning all day is not good.

There was a tropical storm off the coast for awhile, then a disturbance but we are basically back to the afternoon rains. They have been pretty heavy lately.

They haven't been that heavy here. It just rained a few minutes ago, but it was very light and only lasted for about half an hour. It might rain all week, but it's almost always less than an hour, sometimes less than half an hour.

They were predicting heavy rains and storms all weekend, and nothing.
I get a little nervous too during thunderstorms, and when I've been up to the park in one, an indoor ride works great, and usually, by the time you are out of the ride it's over.
Good luck with the trip.

We arrived on 6/3 and left on 6/13 and it rained the entire time. This was about the time TS Arlene was stirring up the Gulf. Actually caused us to lengthen our trip by three nights since we had planned to spend 4 nights at the AL shore - right where the storm was headed. Kept the crowds down at TL and BB.

We were there 6/6-11. It rained late in the afternoon the day we got there & was dry for two days then rained on & off on Thursday. Friday was just a short shower while we were at DTD. There was a thunderstorm nearby on Saturday but it only rained a few minutes at POP when we were out by the pool.

We've had a good deal of rain in May and June here...way above average. But in all honesty, I don't think it's anything to worry about. We did have a system set up off the coast recently that brought a lot of rain, but it's not a total rainout like we saw some days in December.

Just bring the ponchos...and remember...when it's raining some people leave the park...and you'll get to do more! :)

Yep, lots of rain! It's rainy season, so that is to be expected. Most days have been cloudy with at least an hour of rain everyday. In fact, I believe yesterday was the 1st we have gone all day long without rain. Since we are in drought conditions, we cannot complain, although it does make it tough on visitors.

:umbrella: eeyore0062 that is what I was going to say, it's the rainy season.

Just got home last night. We were there from 6/18-26. It did rain almost every day, but the mornings were wonderful and the evenings were great. There was a late afternoon storm just about every day. One day it was actually warmer in the pool than out of it!! That's how fast it cooled off. We brought our ponchos every single day. I kept them in a Disney bag and just carried them as if they were a purchase. That worked quite well for us. then when we were done using them, they got shaken out and put back in the bag. Go and have fun...don't let the weather report shake you up. It will be fine.

I was on the phone with a Cast Member the other day talking about my September trip. I mentioned all the rain, and she told me not to worry. The more it rains in the spring and early summer, the less likely the chance of hurricanes in the fall (in other words, during MY vacation). I don't know if it is true, just an old wives tale, or if she was just trying to make me feel better. Just in case it is true, let it rain, let it rain, let it rain! :goodvibes

That theory has been mentioned on the news here but I don't think most people believe it.

We brought disposable ponchos, "real" rain ponchos and umbrellas, but I was still not prepared for the rain we had.

We were there from 5/26-6/5.
The first three days were hot and sunny.
The 4th day was hot and sunny - until 20 minutes before Fantasmic, when it POURED for 25 minutes and they cancelled the show.
The rest of the time it rained every day.
The 5th day we were switching hotels from the YC to the CR...it was raining so hard that we missed the CR the first time we drove by! That morning we did Fantasyland in the rain...pretty fun. By that afternoon, the sun came out and so did the crowds.
The 6th day it rained but we went to AK anyway...bad move. Almost nothing is indoors at AK. We later went to DTD and it eventually stopped raining.
The 7th day, rain in the morning, sun in the afternoon.
The 8th and 9th days it rained the whole darned day....except on the 9th day it dried up a bit in the evening, so we got to see Fantasmic. (Then it started raining hard again.)
The 10th day started out hot and sunny. As we were driving to the airport, it poured.

You think that you'll enjoy a bit of rain on a hot Florida afternoon, but be prepare for a downpour. Also, when you go into rides and stores and restaurants, they have the AC cranked up, so if you're wet, you freeze.

I'm not telling you all this to discourage you; rather, I want you to be prepared for what MIGHT happen.

MK is fine in the rain. Lots of rides and attractions are located close together.
AK is miserable.
WS at Epcot is pretty miserable. Futureworld is better.
MGM is okay in the rain.

Bring multiple pairs of shoes. The rain we got caught in while waiting for Fantasmic SOAKED everyone's tennis shoes. Some people like to wear flip flops or sandals in the rain because they don't say wet. I was wearing Teva flip flops and walking in all the rain made me cold.

If you get cold easily, bring at least some t-shirts and capris, in addition to shorts and tank tops.

I actually prefer to wear a ball cap in the rain, rather than the hood of a poncho.

I hope you don't need ANY of this advice!!! :)

It is supposed to be very rainy here from now until the 4th. We are having a cookout on the 4th, so I hope that the weather will cooperate! I do feel sorry for my friends who are coming down this week, though. Maybe it won't all out rain, but just be cloudy and drizzle for most of the day.... probably wishful thinking, though!

As I am sitting at my computer right now it is pouring out....I can't even get my dog to go outside to go to the bathroom!

Thanks everyone for replying and letting me know how the weather for the past week and how it is lately. It's good to know that it hasn't been raining all day and just some average afternoon rain. I can deal with that. But a down pour day after day after day and it's all day.. that is not good.

Summer in Florida = rain....almost daily...............sorry :(
I anticipate rain, but I just didn't know if it's all day thunderstorm or your average afternoon rain. Don't be sorry. It's almost like in the PI (Philippines), they have dry season (hot and humid) and wet season (which also includes tropical storms). I have been to Florida a few times during the summer. But I don't recall going through thunderstorm all day everyday and I thought that that is the case down in CF for weeks now.

I'm very glad to know that you guys down in CF is not overly soaked wet.. and not swimming in your front yard.. well you guys know what I mean. And it is good for the soil, plants, and everything else.

We were there June 10-20 and honestly don't even worry about it! I was freaking out because it said rain for every single day and the first two days were very rainy but then the rest of the week was all sun and if it did rain it was around 8:00 at night so don't worry about it and have a great time! :wizard:
