Has economy changed peoples current vacation plans?

No our plans have not changed. I'm just really glad we purchased DVC when we did. The way I see it my vacations are cheaper now. While airfare for presidents week was no bargain at least the resort stay is already paid for.

No change for us.. yet. We have two visits planned for next year. As of now, we are set to go.. but we shall see.

So far we are keeping our current vacation plans. We have a trip planned for this December. We also have a quickie trip in March that we're considering. If things turn down financially for us, that one would have to be cancelled. I'm hoping to surprise DH for his 30th birthday next year with a surprise trip for the F&W Festival, but that will depend on DH's bonuses. So right now we're still keeping our plans, but we are watching things to see if we feel like it's wise to cancel some of the trips.

As a brit I will have much less money to spend as the exchange rate has gone from $2.11to the £1 to $1.63.

This means that I cannot afford to fly on Us carriers and will stick to either Virgin atlantic or British airways. It also means instead of spending $2000 I'll spend only $1500.
I've cancelled the DDP as its too expensive and will eat off site or get take out. I wont buy disney goods from their shop but go to Walmart and wont buy anything I dont need anymore.

THus I will just spend the same number of pounds as always, just that Disney & the US economy wont get as many Dollars as before.

We know what you mean. Canada's exchange rate has suffered terribly as well - and we're about to start a California/Disneyland trip very soon!

Our CAN$ was close to par with the USD$ until recently. Our last DVC add-on was at par. If we were to do an add-on today we'd be paying 20% more for our DVC contracts than we did in May this year.

Still, I am glad that as DVC owners we don't have to pay cash for hotels. We still have to pay for park passes and dining in USD$ (and our maintenance fees) . . . but at least we don't have to see a $2100 USD hotel bill floating under our door after a 1 week trip - and then pull out a calulator to see what our "real" bill is!

We were planning to buy DVC in January with some of the proceeds from a stock grant I received that vests then. Unless there is a major turn-around in the stock price, that won't be happening. It makes me a little sad, but eventually it will turn around and then I'll definitely be buying my DVC!
