Has Disney 'ruined' other holidays for you?

I think I would have to reply with an honest yes it has lol.

We do enjoy our other holidays to different parts of the world but I never quite get as giddy about them. :goodvibes

I think DH and I are like Peter Pan and Tinkerbell in the fact that we just don't want to grow up lol!

Even Disneyland and Disneyland Paris can't do it for us. Note to self - must try Hong Kong.

Has anyone been there by the way? I'm off to look for a thread now.

hi

im not a sun worshiper (prefere sunbed to real thing) so have never been into beach holidays and lying around. i like cities but now they do pale in comparison to wdw.

this is our second year going to wdw but we thought we might travel the east coast next year (and end up in, yes you guessed it, wdw).

UKDEB i really like the picture at the bottom of your posts. whats it called and how do i get one.

love

I would say no as we enjoy visiting other parts of the US and hope to go to Italy, The Caribbean and Australia in the next five years or so. I must say I couldn't not go to WDW again but from now on it will be every 3 or so years, unless we win the lottery and can buy a villa out there ;) Our next big hols is going nowhere near anything Disney and we also have a short break to Lanzarote later in the year and we are looking forward to both very much :cool1:

Yes definitely. First trip was in 1991 - the addiction took hold and that was that.

We go over every summer for 3 weeks, not staying in WDW but in a villa. It's not just a Disney addiction, it's a general Florida one.

We have ventured other places too. In the past 4 years we did October week long trips to London, New York City (twice) and the Connecticut area of New England.

Europe holds no attraction for me I'm afraid. Never liked package type Med holidays anyway and city breaks just aren't catching my eye either.

We're happy and that's what most important about holidays isn't it. :sunny:

Definately. I get so bored if we go somewhere that hasn't got a theme park or some kind themed resturant!!!!

We have joined DVC so we will be going on a Disney holiday every year for the next 49!!!

We like to do theme park weekend breaks as well but are running out of the close ones!!!

We have only been once and I would have to say definately yes at the moment, it will be interesting to see if I feel the same after going back.

For the last 10 years or so we have always had a villa in the Algarve and it was great for a while. I now don't want to sit around the pool and 'fry' and going to Disney has certainly opened my eyes. I never thought for one moment that it would be like it was I was thinking maybe Alton Towers or Drayton Manor park but perhaps slightly bigger... :rotfl2: I am hoping our next visit will be just as good as our first if not better and well as for the future if all goes well then maybe one day I would like to try Disneyland.

It did for a while, but that was mainly because we had so much on our plate the last few years that all we needed was a "holiday" and there WDW fits the bill every time, it has everything. Now that things are starting to settle down I miss "travelling", going to new places & experiencing new things.

So I think it's going to be the best of both worlds for the next few years we've got Kenya, Australia and India on the list. And 'cause we're DVC members there will be regular weeks at WDW to unwind, if necessary solo! (DH isn't as Disney minded as I am, but he wants to go to the Star Wars Weekends next year!)

I wouldn't say that Disney has ruined other holidays for me, but I would definitely say that Florida has greatly changed my expectations on what a good holiday is/should be. I've done France, Spain and the Canaries and find that the general attitude is to rip off English tourists for as much as possible, it's prevalent in most of the places I've visited. Contrast that with what I've experienced in Orlando (not just Disney!) and that's why I can't see much further than another US holiday next year.

Having said that, this will be the third time I've done Orlando and I'm looking to maybe have a holiday at Key West next year, and certainly look at other parts of the US, San Francisco, New York, Memphis - I wouldn't just restrict myself to the mouse!

Yes! Absolutely. When I met my BF he had never travelled abroad before. We went to Florida together last year (our 2nd holiday together) and this here he refused to go anywhere but Florida!

We thought about going elsewhere but there just isn't anywhere like it. Not just Disney but the whole of Orlando.

What's funny is that when we first met he told me he wasn't too interested in ever travelling abroad and now he is the biggest holiday snob ever, its Florida or no where for him! :goodvibes (with a DCL cruise to the Bahamas this year too)

Hi Wilma

I totally agree, we haven't really been able to bring ourselves to go anywhere since discovering WDW. It truly is my laughing place, the place I always go to in my mind when I need a little magic.

I do love DLRP too though, although it could do with a little more sunshine!! I loved it in December when it was so Christmassy and snowing and snuggling up by the fire in the Sequoia Lodge.

I do want to see other parts of the US, but I'm not a good flyer and I know I can manage the Florida flight and we don't have to first fly to London in order to get to our destination.

We're off to Menorca in a few weeks to visit a friend, and while I'm looking forward to the relaxation, I am also wondering what we're going to do all week!

ArielJasmine princess:

P.S. Sarah, we are thinking about Hong Kong too in a couple of years (scary flight!!), so if you find any information I would be really grateful if you would share it with me.

No definitely not. I love WDW and have been a dozen times but there are many other places I love. I have never liked beach holidays but do love city breaks. In the past few years I've done several major US cities New York, San Francisco, Boston, LA , Las Vegas, Chicago and Washington DC and also many European cities including Paris, Barcelona, Venice, Rome, Prague and Amsterdam. Probably my favourite destination at the moment is Lake Garda.

Let's see .. we were considering Hawaii, Europe, etc... for our honeymoon. And I go to DW almost every year and there's no way I could pass up another opportunity to go to Disney! I would live there if I could. Practically 5 weeks and we're there.. woohoo!
I couldn't see myself sitting on a beach for 2 weeks while I could be having non stop fun in DW. :bride:
