Just off the Fantasy and when I was on the wonder captain Minnie made one appearance and then changed outfit

All appearances and merchandise were exclusive Captain Minnie and Cruise Director Minnie had sailed away it seems!

which Minnie did you guys enjoy more? It’s not a big deal but just a fun little change I noticed it also looks like captain Minnie ditched the pants too!

Sadly the internet lost its collective sugar-honey-iced-tea over the fact that a female could *GASP* choose to wear pants.

You'd think we're still in the 1820s rather than the 2020s. Anyone can wear whatever they want!

Disney introduced Captain Minnie to show that they are all for eliminating gender roles.

A bit of a political PR move, but it make no difference to me. People lost their minds. At the end of the day, it's someone in a costume and there's much more pressing (and important) issues to be worried about. Certainly no harm in discussing but I remember seeing FB comments where you would have thought Disney committed malpractice!

First American womon to captain a major cruise ship - Celebrity Summit. She was also the initial captain of the Celebrity Edge and will be the initial captain of the Celebrity Beyond.

I know. It takes a LOT for me to get into a skirt.

And yeah - she's awesome! I loved meeting her when I sailed on the Edge - and we got to meet Bug (well, she held Bug and walked around the stage with her). So much fun!! She rocks pants most of the time - but she wears heels I could NEVER manage!

I think currently 1 is female out of the 4 ships. And I think Ashley is moving to the Wish. Hopefully another female will replace her.

13 listed at present per the DCL Blog. Not sure how up to date that is. There are at least 2 per ship and usually a couple of floaters to fill in.

Honestly, having men doing the job is an example of men in what was a female role early on - remember Julie on The Love Boat. Many of the CDs early on were female.

That's what I meant. Showing that women can also be captains, even though historically ship captains have been male.

I liked the cruise director costume better, but if I had children and the subliminal message it sends that the man is in the power position , I understand …. but at the end of the day they are entertainers so can we all just have fun with this?!

I’m of many minds on this topic apparently…lol
