Has AVIS Improved?

Have heard alot of complaints about Avis, especially since they have moved out of the Radisson.

Has anyone recently rented from Avis and if so, how was your experience? Do they have more than a couple of people at the return desk? Also how is the shuttle, was it total chaos?

Thanks
Joanna

We used Avis before/after our 2/26/04 cruise. Everything went very smoothly. We were somewhat concerned after getting off the Magic last year (5/03) - it was mass chaos that almost broke into fistfights. This year I found the white tent area near the cruise terminal to be much better organized. Our wait for the shuttle bus was only 5-10 mins. At the Cocoa Beach Avis there were 2 or 3 people working the desk, and the lines moved quickly. We were well pleased, and I can certainly recommend Avis.

We were one of their harshest critics. We were booked with them the week after they moved to their new location. (The Orlando airport staff didn't even know about it and didn't have their new address.) It was terrible.

Fast forward to this past January, and it was fine. I would use them again.

Regina & Pluto...Good to hear it. I am currently booked with Avis, but I see alot of people are starting to use Budget.

Thanks
Joanna

In the white tent, they have signs and queues, which makes it much more organized. I have noticed that the line for the Budget and Hertz shuttles still seems to be almost non-existent, while the Avis one is the longest. But at least you can be sure that your place in line will be honored! And "long" is a relative term...you'd probably only have to wait for one shuttle, or two at the most, with the number of people I usually see.

Avis is owned by a lady named Gloria - each time I ride by her place (she is my next door neighbor) it looks like she is getting everything put into place - when she first moved, it was chaos for the computers were not working right - if anything could go wrong --it did for her - I am sure if you have a problem, she will be more than happy for work with you. I am going to try and check out the laundermat today and will also try to stop by Avis to see how things are going.
another tidbit from Cape Canaveral.

Thanks Barb and Shirley...How is dropping the car off the day of sailing. Is it chaotic then with everyone scrambling to get to the ship early?

Also is there any hotels by the new Avis location?

We did that with Budget once (we usually take a towncar, but I rented one for research), and the drop-off was very smooth. I was the only one dropping off at the time (I think it was around 11), and we were on the shuttle within minutes, Hopefully Avis is good like that, too.

No problem with our Sat. morning dropoff.

Hey Pluto...I like your message in the timer box.

Glad to hear Avis has gotten it together more.
