Ever figured out how much it would cost to get enough points to live at Disney year-round?

Yes, this has been calculated in the past, but unfortunately, I do not have a link to it. Of course, it is only really an exercise in "what if" due to point limitations and other restrictions as I recall.

It varies slightly from year to year due to the way the weekdays/weekends fall within the given seasons. For example, January is all Adventure season. For all of January 2005, an OKW 1-B/R would have been 712 points for the month but for all of January 2006 it would only be 688 points for the month.

My DVC-Planner will calculate points very quickly for a full year. Below is a chart showing the points required for Jan 1, 2006 through Dec 31, 2006 for all room combinations thre are.

I am not sure a house could be as magical ! I have enough for a 3-4 month stay. Retirement is still about 25 years away, so who knows if DL or Hawaii happens where retirement will take us!!!

It would be 12,847 for a 1BR at BCV or VWL and 11,582 to stay at SSR.

A 2BR would be 15,086 at SSR, 16,704 at BCV/VWL or 13,971 at OKW.

DVC restrcitions limit ownership to 2000 points at any resort and 5,000 total. There are probably ways to skirt these limits by deeding ownership to individuals rather than husband/wife.

Ownership purchase costs could range from about $515,000+ for those who were able to buy over 10,000 points at OKW in the early years to about 1.5 million for those wanting that 2BR at BCV for the year.

Maintenance fees would run from about $40,000 at OKW for the 1BR to over $70,000 for the 2BR at BCV/VWL.

Your numbers are incorrect. It appears you only did 11-months (Check-IN Jan 1, 2005, checking OUT Dec 1, 2005.

The calculator on the DIS boards will not allow you to run a full 365 days, only 364 days. You can't select a Check-IN date of Jan 1, 2005 and a Check-OUT date of Jan 1, 2006.

Also, the DIS calculator does not let you do anything for 2006 at all. My Calculator does do all 365 days, and will do 2006, or 2007, or 2008....or 2054 .

I though I did Jan 1 to Dec 31 - but you are probably right.

I love DVC but I think I would get sick of it - staying all year.

You're right, a house would be much cheaper. But if you split your stay up around 7 different resorts, maybe it wouldn't get sick after awhile. Moving every 7th week or so, and with the VB and HH trips in there it would be a change of pace. If they do a DL resort that would certainly help.
