Ok so our plan was to arrive in Orlando and check into the super 8 in the afternoon of the 20th, check out around 6:30 grab a bite and then head to the POP by 7:30 ish so we can get our tickets, can anyone tell me if this si possible? I know we cant get into our room, but we want to get to the park early!!!
Would it be better to try a night at the pop instead? It would cost 50 more dollars, for the one night! Share your thoughts?!

Yes, you can do this. We've checked in early in the morning lots of times (most recently on July 4th at the Dolphin, 7:30 a.m., when our room was actually available even!) Whether your room is ready or not, you can get your tix, and be at the park for opening. I think it's a great way to save a few dollars on that first night.

Either way works very easily. If $50 is a deal breaker, and you don't mind checking in and out after one night, stay off site. But if $50 isn't that big of a deal, why not stay at POP your first night as well? You only have to unpack toiletries and park clothes once, and maybe you could grab the bus for a stroll around DTD or a late dinner at Portabello Yacht Club the night before your planned trip to the parks. IMO, it's worth the $50 to stay at POP the first night, but of course, it's really all up to you. Have a great vacation! ::MickeyMo

That is what my family and I have done the past two years. We drove from Pa. down to Orlando and stayed in the Hampton Inn in Orlando. The next morning, we ate a quick breakfast (that was included with the stay), checked out around 7:00am and headed over to POFQ. Our room was not ready, however, we got our park tickets and were on our way to the Magic Kingdom by 9:00am ! We spent a little time walking around POFQ when we first got there - it is our favorite resort.

I definitely recommend doing this to get a full day in the parks your first day!

Have a great time!
