had any problems with taking pictures when trying on dresses? I know that some places let you and others don't. I'm going to David's Bridal to check out a few dresses and I want to send pictures to my mom, who cannot be here for any of this. So I just wanted to know if anyone had encountered anything like this.
Do you think if I explain my situation, they might let it happen? Or will I have to sneak some in the dressing room? :rotfl:

I took pictures at David's bridal with no problem at all. Have fun trying on dresses!!!

I wouldn't be surprised with some of the discount websites. I ran into this same sort of thing when we bought our house and were furniture buying. The local stores didn't want to give you model numbers or anything because you could call one of those North Carolina discounters and order it from them. My mom saved about $3000 ordering a dining room set from one of these discounters.

I don't think David's would be a problem as they are on the inexpensive side, but if you go to a local store looking for a Maggie Sottero or Casablanca or Watters dress. I'd put money on they know about these sites and will not let you take pictures or might be evasive about the dress code if you haven't done your homework already.

Davids wont give you any trouble about taking pics. Its the bridal salons carrying name brands that wont let you take pics til you buy the dress.

I thought the same thing, but David's will let you. The sales associates even took them for me - they are posted in my PJ

It's the other bridal shops for fear of price shopping.

yeah...what she said... :)
David's carry their own style so if even if you take pictures technically the only place you can get that particular dress is at another DB...so they won't mind.
If you go to stores which carries several brands they don't want you to try on stuff over there and then do comparison shopping in different stores... their ploy to charge you a lot of $ and shop at their store.

Oh that's great!! I'm just so in love with these 2 dresses, but have only tried the one on. I think I like how the other one looks so I reaaaaaaally want to try it on and my mom can't make it for any of this, so now at least I'll have non-headless mannequin pictures to show her :cool1:

Just another note for you... I actually went to David's first because 1) I wasn't in love with anything on their site and just wanted to try out some styles 2) I was off and it was easy to get to 3) I just had the dress itch!

I went by myself and tried on dresses and the sales associate took pics. I knew I was going to shop more but even so I just didn't fall in love  with anything. I picked two dress I kinda licked. My mom didn't like either. Now I crossed off Davids of my list. So pictures kinda helped me in a reverse way:goodvibes

I like the bridesmaid dresses they have though and their prices are pretty cheap so the trip definitely wasn't a waste!

If you happen to head over to Bridaltown (in Collegeville), you won't be able to take any pictures. They also carry a line (Bridals by Jules) that supposedly is exclusive to them. The dresses aren't online anywhere.

I agree with what everyone said... David's was super willing... she even offered to take pictures of me but the salon I eventually ordered my dress from wouldn't even let me take a picture until I ordered the dress. They didn't really hide names from me because I asked for specific dresses, but one of the other brides to be left in bridezilla mode because they wouldn't let her take pictures of a dress.

I did go to bridaltown, I didn't really see much that I liked. In my planning journal I have pictures of 2 dresses that I liked. The summery one is kind of like the one I tried on, but I ended up going with the other one haha I love it too much not to.
