So of course I am sad that I am not getting upgraded like so many others....:confused3 I called my TA today and she didn't know anything but called Disney, and said it was possible no matter how you book, but I'm not sure that seems accurate as Disney wouldn't even have my email connected with the TA reservation. Oh well I'm happy for everyone else, but between this, not being able to find air, and not being able to get ADRs some of the magic is fading for me...

I spoke with a CM and a supervisor on this exact subject and both said NO, that if you booked threw TA you will not have a chance at the upgrade--this bumed me out because we used a TA to book our trip, but hey you know what?..... Were still going to be in disney and I will be happy no matter where we stay....and this could mean that our value resort will not be near as busy on the plus side:)

I just received a email from disney on this matter and it stated to call your TA to see if you are eligable so maybe there is some way it can happen and they just couldnt tell ME that, maybe they have to talk to TA instead-dunno, Im calling my TA tommrrow...I'll keep my fingers crossed and keep you posted on what TA says after she talks to disney

It takes a bit of work on the TA and Disney's part, but yes, a TA booking CAN be eligible for an upgrade. A good Disney TA can "make" the WDTC go through guest records to search for a possible offer. This is a typical Disney pin code offer, and the offer must be associated with the guest's name/address/phone number. These offers have not just been sent to folks who are already booked and according to my rep today (a long time CM who is very good) there have been postcards mailed as well as the emails. According to my info from Disney this is an offer straight from the Marketing department. It is random and totally miscellaneous--without any rhyme, reason, or logic. There are some things that the TA needs to ask for the Disney rep to check. It is definitely not a quick process and a CM needs to make an effort to check many things to find the potential upgrade.

The dates for the pin offer are only August 26-Sept 1. This is a very, very small group of guests. Also, the resorts in question (OKW and SSR) have a limited number of rooms available and once they're full, they're full.

What I suspect happened is that the Values are totally full, but there is still availability at the Mods and Deluxes. Disney wants to move folks from the very full Value resorts into the lower occupied resorts in order to free up more rooms to bring in more people rather than have those rooms at OKW/SSR remaining empty. Just my opinion of course, there there are still Mods available from Aug 26 on, which really surprised me.

Thanks 4 the info! We wont arrive utill Sept 17th so theres no point in me looking into this any further unless they announce more upgrades for my dates right?

I got upgraded through a TA. I orginally booked through Disney and then transfered my booking to a TA maybe that made a difference. Anyway last week I got an email form Disney about an upgrade offer. I forwarded the email to my TA and asked her to check into it. She replied that the SSR was already gone but got us into OKW.

The only dates currently affected by the pin upgrade are for check-ins between August 26-September 1. There have been no offers sent for additional dates.

I wonder why you received the e-mail if your travel dates were not eligible? You would think that Disney would only send them out to guests who fell within the applicable dates. Maybe you should call your TA on Monday, just to have her check for you :confused3 .

I had sent them a email the day before I decided to call and talk to someone in person regarding the free upgrades and they just now responded to the email (3 days later). But It did give me some hope because it said for me to have TA call to see if were eligable (sp), whereas when I spoke with CM on the phone they said thers no way:confused3 This was befor I found out that dates were only till Sept. 1st though.

My rep at Disney said there are also new mailings, and not just to booked guests. If someone called in to Disney for pricing during this time period, or requested a DVD, they may be in the "targeted group" for the postcard or email. Remember I said there was no rhyme, reason, or logic to the offer. LOL
