I am going to start Home schooling my girls and would love to have a large wipe off board to work with, but the big ones I could find are like 300 bucks! :scared1: Wayyyy out of my budget. I saw that they make wipe off board paint and that it has mixed reviews. I was hoping some fellows Diser's would have some insight. Thanks guys!

Have you priced the school items through catalogs from educational companies like Lakeshore or Constructive Playthings?

This may not help, but I bought magnetic paint for my daughter's room. And it too had very mixed reviews. After painting the recommended number of coats it did not work. We had to paint 3 extra coats before it worked well enough. I'm not sure if the paint is at all similar, but that may be something to keep in mind if you do it and it doesn't work.

We have a white board on my DD's easel that we use. I bought that off Amazon for I think $24.00 including shipping, and I used about $10 in Swagbucks gc's to get it for even less. It's somewhat small (I think it's the Step 2 Easel), but it's good enough for what we need right now. It's a chalkboard on one side and magnetic white board on the other. The kids use it all the time, and I use it a lot when working with her on math, ect. Another product that I LOVE is dry erase sheets. It's a clear pocket that you can slide any paper into to make it dry erase. They're $1.97 each from Lakeshore Learning (at least they were when I ordered a few months ago) and they work great. My kids love them too. I like it cause I can print out math worksheets and my daughter can get more than one use out of them. I've also bought small workbooks from Lakeshore and I put those in the pockets too, so we can use them more than once. The workbooks can get pricey and I like that my DD can do them multiple times if necessary and I can save them for my younger DD.

Lakeshore also has lap sized white boards that work well for I think $2.97. We have the blank one as well as the lined one for learning to write. My kids like these alot. Sometimes I will write the math problems on the white board and they use their lap board to figure them out. You can't beat the price and it saves on paper.

And for Dry Erase markers, I've recently found them at Dollar Tree. We go through a lot so this was a good deal for us.

Okay, my experience. We home school and the inventor of dry erase is a genius! I used some dry erase paint and it was awful. If you don't wipe it off right away it's harder to get off and I have some that just won't come off no matter what tricks I've used. My favorite thing I've found is at Lowes... we got peel and stick dry erase sheets. It's more than enough to cover their desks, I use it right on the wall and move it wherever I need it. Cut it to fit where I need, and it's like $4. You could easily use it to cover a cork board or something to use as a dry erase board. However I've found the best place for it is right on their desks. They can draw on it, write on it (got the lined stuff from crayola, GREAT) anything you need.

I use the showerboards in my classroom. My husband cut them down for me so that all my students have one. The best erasers are old socks. My son has a student teacher in his room now. My husband has gone to Lowes right now to purchase 2 boards to cut down to mini boards - 1 set for the student teacher as a thank you and good-bye gift and 1 for his regular teacher.

Several homeschoolers on WellTrainedMind have made their own HUGE ones for under $20 with Showerboard from Lowe's or HD. :woohoo: They make all kinds of cute frames, etc. You can head over there and ask or I found this one with instructions

We do this all the time at the school I work in. Showerboard is installed on the wall and there you have a white board. Works just as well too!

Our school on our old campus used the showerboards for YEARS. We are in a new school now but I never knew they were not the real thing until a teacher told me.
