Hi,

I know its a bit away but DH and myself would like to stay @ wdw over christmas 2008. (19th DEC - 2 Jan.)

We have been DVC members since 1999 but we have never tried booking during peak / premium times.

We own 250 points @ BW and 120 @ SSR. Ideally we would love to spend the first part of our holiday @ BWV then move to SSR around the 28th.

We will be wanting a studio.

How easy will it be to book, will I have any chance? Do people have to phone day by day or can I wait till the 11 month from 2nd Jan?

If you have to do it day by day can you then link your reservations?

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

It may have changed but when we joined they were talking about a wish list for peak times (not quite a wair list but more like what they just did to be asked early if you wanted the member cruise). Give member services a call asap to check what they do as it may be the earlier you get on their list the better your chance is!

Good luck
and please let us know how you get on

Boardwalk studios get booked quite quickly at any time of the year. So if you really do want the dates, then I think it would be advisable to book daily. If you tell the reservationist at the time of the first phone call that you will be telephoning daily, the dates will be linked and you will only have one booking number.

Good luck. I'm still on the fence if I want to be at WDW at Christmas. On the one hand I think it would be very festive, but the downside is ... VERY busy. So the jury is still out on this one. But I would like to know how doable it is, just in case.

We've just got back from a Christmas stay (I'm trying to stay awake until a reasonable bed time)

We were there for 3 weeks and the last 6 nights were DVC (28th December - 3rd January) we initially booked a 1 bed at our home resort (OKW) 11 months out with no problems and by calling day by day were able to switch to a 1 bed at VWL which was a lovely place to stay.

If you book your home resort day by day at 11 months I wouldn't think you have a problem

It was nice to be there at Christmas but from 23rd December onwards it was very busy and I heard that MK was closed for 4 days in a row. We didn't even attempt the parks during this time and we were lucky that the weather was very hot so that we could chill by the pool.

We wouldn't do a Christmas trip again - the crowds were manic and it cost us 274 points for those 6 nights, we could get a lot more vacation for that amount of points in the summer.

We went a few years ago, it was very good, had to phone day by day at the 11 month window but we were in SSR which had good availability.

I would echo the comments about it being manic, long queues but it was still very magical and I sat at home this Christmas wishing we were all there as a family. DW not letting me make an add on, even with the good exchange rates and $15 discount and burned all our points last summer on a 3 week trip.
May have to be 2008 for next trip which seems so unfair.....

We just got back from 2 weeks in WDW during Christmas. 12 days were at BWV in a 2-bedroom Boardwalk view villa. When I made my reservations, I called MS day-by-day. We really had a good time and the crowds didn't bother us too much, except for the last few days. If you go out early in the morning, you can still get on every ride with little or no wait. The parks got VERY crowded after 10am from Dec. 25th on. We left on the 28th. It was a very good travel day, and I would do it again. :santa:

We stayed in a 2 bedroomed villa at the BCV over Christmas/New Year 2005/6. We went with friends who are DVC members and they booked the whole trip in one go rather than a day at a time. The crowds didn't bother us too much either as we made a point of getting up early to get done what we wanted and then headed back to the BCV in the afternoon to do other things (taking a boat out on the lake, looking at the other deluxe resorts decorations etc.) I know the MK closed at least twice whilst we were there but that was on days we expected it to anyeay so we stayed well away!!
I would go at Christmas again, I didn't think it was anywhere near as bad as what people made it out to be. But maybe thats because we did lots of research beforehand.
