Has anyone used the Sit N Stroll?

On another thread the Sit N Stroll was mentioned for use as a car seat and stroller for the airplane. I was wondering if any of you have used this product and is it worth the price (almost $200)? We would be using it for our 13 month old . It sounds like it would make things easier because we would have one less thing to carry or push because it is all in one. Thanks for your input :earboy2:

IMHO it is not worth the money unless you can use it in other places. Someplace like NY when hailing a cab often or if you travel lots it can be great. The thing is that it is not a very good stroller as it is low, has no canope and is hot due to the fabric.

I would just use your regular carseat if it is faa approved and either use a carseat bag or a luggage cart to haul it. Ours was a breverra and the straps fit fine over the stroller - then we gate check the stroller and bring the seat on the aircraft. I just saw some great carseat bags at BRU one was a backpack type and the other had wheels - looked cool.

I just got back from a plane trip today. Are you only flying with one? If so, here are some of the things I have done:

Choice 1: I have strapped my existing carseat to a portable luggage cart (the kind that fold) and used this as a makeshift stroller. If properly positioned on the cart, you can even strap your kid into the carseat. I've done this when I had only one child, it works great!

Choice 2: With some carseats and stroller (I've done it with my Marathon and Peg Perego P3), you can bugee cord the carseat to the stroller. Then, strap child into the seat and your carseat will roll through the airport.

Choice 3: (What I just did today). I used a PacBack (I think this is the right name), which you strap onto your carseat so that you can wear it as a backpack and then I just pushed our normal double stroller.

I've thought about purchased the sit-n-stroll, but they are pricey. From what I have heard, they are nice for the airport, but they are not great as either a stroller or a carseat. Plus, I find it difficult to reinstall my carseat for each car trip. I'd use this option only if I didn't really need a "real" stroller for the trip. It would be excellent for the airport, but not really good at any other time.

Let me know if you have any questions. We literally got home today, so everything is fresh in my mind!

Good luck,
Jennifer

I was at BRU yesterday and the only thing they had was an Eddie Bauer bag for the stroller. Do you recall who the car seat bags were made by? I really would like something with wheels.

I have 4 kids with another one on the way and I like our Sit n Stroll. I used it many times for my youngest 2 kids.

I don't have to worry about a carseat getting lost or damaged on route and as a checked in piece of luggage, it's easy for me to just strap my little one in and go even while he is asleep, and my hands are free and we have less to carry and bother (with).

If you have a large family and lots of luggage and stuff, you plan to use it for another child (or children), you can afford the cost because it is pricey, and you want overall convenience then yes it's great to have.

Then again a big problem with this carseat/stroller is that some don't fit in some airplane seats so you have to check the dimensions with your carrier before the flight.

Can you strap the Sit N Stroll into the airline seat with the baby strapped into the seat? If so, that would be terrific for when traveling alone.

Thanks,
Jennifer

We borrowed one from a friend for a trip to Bermuda when my younger DS was 15 months old and we loved it.

Something that has been puzzling me is why would you take your car seat and not use it on the plane? I would think it would make your child more comfortable because they are familiar with it.

... and so much safer, too. I think people check in the carseat because it's easier and more convenient than lugging it around. It's safer to use a carseat on the plane and the Sit N Stroll is perfect. It is a stroller when the wheels/wheel base are "down" and then it all retracts when you need it as a carseat or booster seat.

The new distributor of the Sit n Stroll is www.tripleplayproducts.com . There is info about it on their website.

I can understand not taking a booster seat for a child over 40lbs and just checking the booster seat in so he or she can just use the seat belt on the plane, but a carseat is so vital.
