We will be spending our vacation at a Disney hotel. However DH and DD want to go over to see Harry Potter. I think they will go 2 days. I am considering 2 options:

1. rent a car for a few days and they can drive over.

2. the Dreams ticket and transportation (mears) from the hotel.

Any thoughts good or bad on either option?
Thanks!

I would say just do the ticket/transportation deal. Since you will already have the Disney magical express to and from the airport, it would cost more to rent a car. If you want to have the freedom of going wherever you want, then you could rent a car. You also have to pay for parking at the hotels and theme parks. For late January an economy car is close to $150 so you could be looking at close to $300 just for a car if you decided to do that.

I priced out a car rental from the Disney Car Care Center and it was about $50 a day after taxes and fees. Add in parking at Universal ($14) and you are at $64. I found that the Dreams Unlimited deal is slightly higher but if you factor in the hassle of going to the DCCC versus having a shuttle pick you up right at your hotel, that the Dreams Unlimited deal would be better. I have never used it but I am looking to hear from people who have and see what their experiences have been. Anyone?

We did this last trip and found it very convenient. The only downfall was normally we rent a car and go to the outlets up that way which we skipped this time. But if not wanting to go to them I wouldn't bother renting a car. And I always found it cheaper since it's almost the same price as tickets.
