We are planning to travel to Disney the week before Thanksgiving into Thanksgiving week this year. As such, we need to bring our Old English Sheepdog so he can finish out the vacation with us at my in-laws in FL. We have never used the kennel.

Has anyone used it and what is your opinion of it?
How well in advance do you need or can you book your pooch in there?

Any other facts or help would be appreciated.

I debated and researched for months before our last trip and decided on happy paws pet resort not far from disney. I was really impressed with their facilities and professionalism, they made me feel comfortable and every call to them was awesome down to what he's eating how much he potties to what activities was enjoying the most. I would bring him back in a heart beat, and the price was little netter then best friends too.

So had you investigated Disney's kennel and decided that you didn't like them? For convenience, I would like to go there but wanted to know if it was top notch yet not like a doggie contemporary! Thanks for the information though. I'll look into it.

My Aunt and Uncle uses the Disney pet resort a lot. They love it. In fact the staff knows their dog as soon as he walks in the door that is how often they use it.

It is a nice facility. They have an outdoor play area complete with a little pool. A walking track.

The facility closes 1 hour after the last Disney park closes. So if MK is the one open the latest say 1:00 a.m. the pet resort will close at 2:00 a.m.!

I have gone over to visit my Aunts dog and its very very clean place. They told me how Sam (the dog) did that day like if he ate and went out for a walk ect.

For Thanksgiving I would book as soon as you can. You can always cancel. I belive they give a discount for first time renters.

They have indoor play area as well.

We use best friends at Disney all the time for our dog. They are very friendly, very clean, she gets a lot of attention. I would highly recommend it! They open early and you can visit as often as you like. I would make reservations as early as possible, especially during holiday times, as they book up very quickly.

No not at all, sorry I didn't mention that. I considered best friends too and came to them and happy paws, we were there 11 days and the final determination was the price difference, on the other hand I wouldn't hesitate to pay more to know my pup was well cared for... Just giving you a recommendation from my own experience!

Thank you everyone for your input. We have been trying for years to find a decent house/pet sitter and are coming up empty. I appreciate the input on the kennel (s). I didn't even realize there was another one on the property. This gives me a starting point.

And thanks for the thoughts on booking now. you are right, booking now will at least assure us a spot!

I would love to think I could enjoy our Disney vacation without worrying about my dog and cat (as we may be getting a Persian soon).
