Here's my story...

I got the card from "Day 1" and have been using it for everything that I would normally use the ATM check card for. For awhile, I was ordering the Disney Store Reward Card and was able to use them (not hassle free) to purchase DS pass at the Disney Store.

Since then, I've ordered the WDW Reward Dollars and plan on using them on the next trip (Very Soon!!)

Has anyone had any experience using them?

We were there on Tuesday this week and tried to use one ($10) at a soda/ice cream cart and were told that they do not give change, so we would have to purchase at least $10 worth of goodies. We passed and didn't have another chance to use them.

So... Are you saying that they would have accepted it if you were spending more than the $10?

Yes, they would have accepted it. Heck, that's only 4 sodas! ;)

We used $60 of them when we were at WDW in August. I can't remember where we used them - it was either at the 1900 Park Fare for dinner or at Hollywood and Vine for the Fantasmic Dinner Package. We have absolutely no problems using them.

But as poohstx stated, you cannot get change from them, so be sure that you spend them on something that totals at least $10.

Hope that this helps! :)

Hi -- we had $30 in June while on a visit and used them for one purchase was was slightly more than $30 with taxes, etc. We didn't have any real trouble, except that the CMs had not had any others presents to them prior to ours. But they got a manager over and figured out how to code them into the registers.

My husband just ordered some more ($80?) and they can now come as a gift card. So, when you present the card they will just deduct your purchase and you can use the card until it is exhausted. I think that means that you will not have to worry about getting change back on a purchase. At least I think it will work that way. This is new for us, too.

Just thought I would pass that on.

We used them in June. I gave them to the CM at check in and she put them on our account. Then we were able to use our card to make purchases as usual, but then took off the $140 I had before then hit my cc. I also gave them disney $ to do the same thing with. It worked out great cause I did not need to carry them and try to use them only went I went over. I hate carrying cash when you have the opportunity to only carry that one card with you.

One side note, DD and I split from DH and other DD when we were in MGM and my DD had the only small amount of cash with him. When I tried to get Ice Cream I could as none of the COunter places were open to buy ice cream yet and the carts don't take the card, which I knew. SInce this was the 4th of July I was surprised that all food places were not open by mid morning.

So now I carry $10 in cash with me.

DeDixie, I think I understand but would like to clarify. When I check in to Movies I ask them to put the reward dollars on account. Then we use our room card to buy whatever we want in the parks. After we have used up the reward dollars on our account the rest is charged to our credit card that we have on file with the hotel. This seems like a great way to use these! I like the idea of not keeping up with all these $10 certificates. Thanks!:D

Disneycrazymom you are exactly right. When we were checking in I put $140 of reward dollars on my acct, and gave my credit card. THe first $140 went against the reward dollars, then the rest to my cc.

When I got a copy of my bill later in the week (at which time I realized I would do the same thing with my DD DIsney$) It started off with a $140 Credit, then list all my charges: $2.49, $11.97,$4.50, $110.00 etc. then my credit where I put the disney dollars on.

As far as I know you can. You can put in on your hotel account and than anything that is charged to the account can be used.

Having them credited to your room account is a great idea.

We got the latest info on using the Visa Disney credits today. They will issue a card (separate from the Visa card) with an account number on it which will have the amount of Disney rewards asked for. And then card is used to make purchases the purchase price is deducted. You can keep using the card over and over as you can call them and request them to re-credit it with even a $10 amount as soon as you have accumulated it. I believe this will make it much easier to use.

I never charged my groceries before, but I do now. And plan on using those rewards to purchase food and groceries at WDW. Hooray!

I just wanted to ask whether anyone has gotten the reward card while at WDW. I talked to the Visa rep today to ask about ordering a card for our trip that starts 10/24. Since they were estimating that's the day the card would arrive, she suggested that I wait until we get there and to go to guest services at DTD (marketplace and westside locations) to get the card and then they'll call Visa to get your reward dollars put on the card. You need to have your Disney Visa and photo ID. I'm sure this will work, but I'd love to hear from someone who has done this.
