Has anyone used Song Airline?

Thank you for all the information. I feel confident that we will be very happy on Song. The entertainment sounds wonderful. I don't think we will be wanting to eat anything on the red-eye out. But our return is earlier in the evening. I think I'll take a look at what they offer and maybe place an order.

As far as price, I was amazed. I was looking at our tickets from last years trip to WDW. We flew Delta in October and our tickets were over $100.00 more than the Song flight this year. Our course I purshased them last month before all this bigger fuel incease started.

We have 5 weeks from tomorrow till vacation. I will let you all know what we thought about Song when we get back.

I've never flown Song, I almost always fly American. But I got a great fare from Hartford to MCO of $150/person RT for four tickets. I love flying from Hartford and American only flies direct to MCO from LGA (I hate LGA) so, I booked it LAST week for our trip over Thanksgiving. THIS week I happened to be out on flysong.com and noticed a different return flight was now available for $49 mayking the total $91/person RT!!!!! I almost flipped. Since the return trip was later in the day and the savings was more than the $50 change fee I went ahead and rebooked. But then I started thinking it stinks having to pay the $50 for each ticket when I just booked it a week ago and our flight is not for another 3 months.

Soooo...I called customer service and after a little bid of prodding and whining I got them to refund the change fee AND the fare diffence back to my credit card for all four tickets - $260. No way I was expecting that!!!



I am definitely a Song fan now. Hopefully, the actual flying experience will be as good as their cust service!!!!

We love Song as well! Flew them for the first time last October out of Newark NJ to Disney and are flying again this October out of JFK. I am a very paranoid flyer but having the tv, music, trivia games, etc... really makes the time go fast and drowns out some the normal plane noises (which make me a nervous wreck)! Very friendly staff! Who cares that they don't give "free" food. For us it is only a 2.5 hour flight.......bring snacks! They do have soda and juices complimentary! SONG is the way to go!!!!

Hi there! We returned recently from our vacation. It was Wonderful! Song was really good. We had a direct flight, which was super. The entertainment on board is very good. Didn't use it on the red-eye out, but our flight back it was super. Even played a trivia game with other passengers on board. My DH and myself split a sandwich and had a drink on the way home. Food was good and service was very good. We will certainly use Song in the furture.

I just booked my tickets via Orbitz, and when I looked for my seats, the front of the aircraft came up as "premium" seats. What is this if it isn't first class?

Premium seats are reserved until almost the last minute, for the airlines best frequent flyers - those who might, frankly, book at the last minute and pay full fare. There are about forty seats on EVERY Song flight (the same forty seats) that appear as reserved even from the instant tickets go on sale for that flight 331 days in advance.

Twenty-four hours in advance, or the day of the flight, Song will release availability to any of these seats which have not actually been sold.

I now fly the cattle cars of Southwest because I don't think Song is worth the extra money. They treat you like second class citizens. And don't even think about taking a suitcase that weighs over 50 pounds. They will charge you a fortune. Those pins add a lot of weight really fast.

That's your right. I do think Song is worth the extra money (actually, I think JetBlue is even worth a few extra dollars than Song) and it's got nothing to do with asigned/unassigned seating*. It costs me $15 to get to an airport where I can fly Song or JetBlue; to fly Southwest, I have to drive 100 or so miles round trip (four gallons of gas @ $2.50 per gallon) then park for x number of days (say seven days @ $10 per day) PLUS the extra commuting time involved. So, financially and timewise, Southwest fails me.

As for overweight luggage, ALL airlines have strict policies on this. It's not primarily due to plane weight, but rather how much weight Skycaps and ramp agents have to lift - and OSHA, and all that. How long does anybody travel that they need over fifty pounds of stuff per suitcase, anyway? What do you all bring?

I recently did the Song red eye from LAX to MCO and it was a great experience. Having the TV in the seatbacks was nice. The music selection that they had was awesome. The flight attendants were friendly, and attentive.

I couldn't believe they did it and I waited until I saw the credit on my credit card before posting. Anyway, here is my secret -- Just be a big annoying pain in the azz cry baby and don't get off the phone until they give in.

Just returned from our Dis trip for this year and was still just as satisfied with Song as my last post! Flew our of JFK for $155.40 per person (there were 6 of us)! Super friendly staff and love the tv/trivia/music options! From here on, will look to Song as my 1st choice carrier (unfortunately, they no longer fly out of Newark, I now have to go JFK)! May still try JetBlue out of Newark, but for this particular trip, they were much more expensive than the fare I got on Song! Highly recommend!

Does the fact that I got home from Disney 2 weeks ago, went on EBAY and won a pair of "wings" with Delta etched on them say anything? On October first I put my lifelong fears to rest and took my first flight ever to Disney. I am in the second half of my century so...no easy feat. I booked Song for financial reasons.
The trip was a dream! It was so smooth I couldn't even feel the plane move. My daughter and I played Trivia Pursuit a few times with other passengers which was great (especially since we each won) and then I decided to nap. That's when the pilot announced we we landing! Coming home on the 5th there was some turbulence from Tropical Storm Wendy but great still. We downloaded our own music favorites and slept. The chicken sandwich is delicious by the way!
I have a deal with american for next years trip and I wish it was Song!!!!!!!

The first 8 rows on Song planes are to the left when you board. They are no different than any other seats except it might be easier to get off the plane when you land since there are only 8 rows to deplane instead of 30 or so.

It is also a quieter cabin because it is so small. I usually try to sit here on Song flights (row 6 in three weeks). It is so easy to board and deplane.

I don't believe Song made any critical cuts in their schedule. Our flights in Feb 06 were changed when Song started flying to the West. There used to be 4 flights daily to MCO and 4 flights daily back to LGA. Now there are only 2 each way. As Song has only a certain number of planes moving these flights seemed necessary. I am sure that if those flights were heavy hitters all the time (like the flights out of JFK are) then they would have been left alone. I did feel bad for the people in Jersey as I heard that Song has left Newark Airport all together (planes were brought to JFK for west coast flights).

That being said, we love Song. My kids didn't need to bring a thousand things to keep the occupied. There is plenty to see. My DD(then 6) rented a movie and my DS (then 9) rented games. My DH just watched TV and I played the trivia game (which you play against other passengers on the plane). Our flight was only 2.5 hours long - not quite as long as yours will be.
I can't comment on the problem of being tall - my DH is only 5'6".

Song reserves all forward cabin seats, EXCEPT for rows 5 and 6. I have flown Song six times, with 2 more flights coming up, and my family has always sat in rows 5 or 6, paying a maximum of $84 one way. I am not a frequent flyer; my trips are a year apart. Last year we flew on the 4th of JUly, and this year we're flying the day before Christmas Eve, both prime times, but still sat in front with the low fares.

Try booking directly through Song's website, or at least check it out, before using Orbitz.
