I never wanted to try it before, because my skin peels with all other benzoyl peroxide products. But a friend of mine gave me a 3-piece kit, and I used it yesterday, in the morning and in the evening. This morning my skin is already red and peeling! If you have used it, did you get good results? Or is it too harsh?

If your skin reacts to benezolye then don't use it. It's strong in there. I use it and it has cleared me up but my face isn't that sensitive to stuff.

It gave my mom a nasty rash. She was on prednisone to clear it up.

As with anything, your skin should adjust to it. If you can, try sticking it out for a week or so and see if the reaction lessens. You could also use it every 2nd or 3rd day and work up to every day.

You could also try the L'oreal Acne Response system which is very similar. It is also a 3 piece cleanser, toner, lotion kit. The difference is that the cleanser in the L'oreal system has 1% Salicylic Acid (most topicals have 2%) rather than benzoyl peroxide. The lotion in the L'oreal system has 2.55% benzoyl peroxide just like the proactiv. Perhaps the mix of acne treatments would work better for you and you won't get a double whammy of benzoyl peroxide.

I've been using Proactiv since the summer. My skin is overall much clearer. Lately, however, using Proactive twice a day has caused my skin to become irritated. I just use it once a day.

I feel bad for all those who waste money on anything and everything. I wish there was a product or solution but there doesn't seem to be just one for everyone. My Derma Doctor told me to cut out eating alot of peanuts and alot of milk. I also have used Keflex for a short period of time and topical medication along with a certain soap. My skin has improved with age but I've noticed I'm not the only one that has had acne problems into their adult age. I hope if you do try it, it will work for you. Good Luck....

My friend told me she couldn't use other benzoyl peroxide products either, but that Proactiv worked great for her. And I wasn't going to turn down $40 of products for free! But, I think I will go back to my Aveda Outer Peace cleanser. My face is just breaking out more than normal right now due to pregnancy hormones, but I guess I just have to wait it out.

ds13 has had wonderful results with this. However, if he is not careful, it can overdry his skin.

OP, I had the same results as you (I just have generally sensitive skin-and rosacea now too). I tried to stick it out for a week but my face ended up stinging so bad I couldn't keep it up. Now my mom used it and had an allergic skin reaction to it. She called Proactiv and told them what was happening and they advised her to take Benadryl till it cleared up and to continue using the stuff :confused3 . She followed their directions and was able to keep using it. Good luck!
