Has Anyone Used Ebay for Disney Lodging?

My husband and I went to Disney for our honeymoon and had so much fun. We would love to go back but can't afford the deluxe trip like we had before. I was wondering if anyone had used Ebay Vacation lodging auctions to book a villa or a studio in Disney World. If so I would like to know the sellers that you bought from and how your trip was.

I have never used E-bay but have stayed in the villas by renting points from a member. Any auction I have seen though has been far pricier than it is to rent the points.

I have never rented from Ebay, but from what I've seen you would be better off renting from a DVC member. You should go over to the DVC/RENT trade board right here on the DIS. I have rented several times in the past, and it has always been a pleasant experience.

At the top of the DVC Rent/Trade section on this site, there is a point calculator, which you can use to plug in your travel dates and see how many points you would need. Remember that weekend points are about double the weeknight, so many people opt to rent five night stays (Sun - thurs). It's an excellent deal, and also no %12 (or thereabouts) hotel tax added. Most people rent their points for around $10 per point, but a few will charge more. Many EBAY auctions are bringing much more than that per point. At time, on this site, people are trying to rent their points more quickly and will charge less. It's a great deal.
