Has anyone used Bitly Plantar Fasciities Socks to help with walking for WDW?

My husband has the Bitty socks and they have really helped his feet. We walk over 3 miles a night and have been upping it to get ready for Disney. Those socks, new supportive shoes, and the frozen water bottle have helped the most.

Thank you everyone for your help.

Just wondering, has anyone tried getting cortison shot on their feet?

I'm very tempted to try that before going to WDW.
I had 3 cortisone shots in my feet for PF. The third shot took and I have had no problems for 7 years.

Frozen water bottle? Is it to roll your feet at night to get the swelling down?

Mueller Plantar Fasciitis Arch Support

I got this from Amazon and they worked great. They velcro together so you can adjust them to whatever tightness you need. I had problems with both feet and this allowed them to heal over time.

The frozen water bottle helps his foot with the ice numbing and helping any swelling plus it's supposed to help stretch the muscles/tendons sort of like physical therapy. He rolls it under his foot while sitting, rolling from toes to heel.

I know there was discussion about KT tape and I was wondering if anyone used Bitly Plantar Fasciities Socks or arch bandage to walk around the parks?

I need every help I can to help with my November trip. In April trip to WDW, I had such a horrible time with my feet, I had miserable time. I couldn't walk because I was so much in pain. I do have professional orthotics but its not helping.

I read in Amazon how people have used Plantar Fascities Socks or arch bandage to parks and it helped. Wondering if anyone here has the experience with them?

Or is KT tape better?

Thank you.

If you're travelling with other people, you might want to consider renting a wheelchair every day, and having them push you. Or rent an electric vehicle.

I have orthotics, and they've helped me a lot, but it's a long-term treatment. It sounds like your PF is more severe than mine, and your trip is in four months. Unless you see a lot of improvement before your trip, I can't see you walking all day, every day in the parks. Getting a wheelchair would be a viable solution to get you through the trip.

I am a runner and have had PF several times in my life - last year being the most recent. I have had PF several times during trips to WDW and in my experience the only thing that helped when walking that much was lots of Advil.

Things that helped me during normal activities simply didn't work when on my feet all day long, and when walking that much on hard surfaces.

Would I go to WDW again with PF? Absolutely. But only with a huge supply of Advil.

I had PF many years ago but it has since gone away. But I do have rheumatoid arthritis so I have experience with the cortisone shots. My rheumatologist suggests getting one about 2 weeks before a trip. I don't know how long you are going for but I would suggest at least 10 days before. You could also try an anti-inflammatory cream. It is like voltaran, which is 1.4% but I get a prescription for 10%. You must rub it in very well for about 5 minutes. I don't know if your feet are sore to the touch, though. When my feet were really sore from the PF, I was told never to go barefoot (which I always do!) so I wear Birkenstocks around the house. I think your best bet is to use many of these tips. I hope all these suggestions give you some relief during your trip. Have a wonderful vacation!

Oh, and there is a certain length of time you have to have between cortisone shots. Check with your doctor about it. I found the cortisone shots (for my knees), helped me immensely.

@Deannie1, I'll be at WDW from 11/4 through 11/12. I will ask my doctor about anti-inflammatory cream. Do you know the prescription name for it?

My feet is not sore to touch but it hurts all over. Top and bottom (spur/arch). Some days are worst than the other. It's good to know that I should go 10 days before the trip for the cortisone. I didn't know and was thinking couple of days before.

Davey Jones II, I requested with my children with I can have wheelchair when we were there in April but they wouldn't let me. Maybe they didn't take me too seriously..... LOL!

Voltaren is the anti-inflammatory cream I tried for my neuroma pain. I didn't have great results with it. What worked better for me was an capsicum cream made for arthritis pain...Zostrix, I think.

Hope you can find the right combo to work! Trying to heal feet is the worst.

NatraCure Plantar Fasciitis Wraps from Amazon were great. They were the only thing that worked for me. I did not get custom inserts or anything. I wore these whenever I walked and my fasciitis went away.

My cream is 10% disclofenic cream. I am in Canada and it is by prescription here and likely is in the USA as well. It does not work immediately, but you should start to feel relief within a 7-10 days. My sister uses it and she says she can feel relief in just a couple of days. You will need to rub it in really well, about 3-5 mins each foot. I also have a prescription anti-inflammatory pill that I take - 15mg Meloxicam. I no longer take it daily but I do take it before a lot of exercise and would certainly take it every day at WDW. The over the counter anti-inflammatories don't seem to work for me. When I told my rheumatologist this when first diagnosed with RA, she said "The OOC ones are like spitting on a forest fire". Bet of luck.

According to any doctors I've gone to, by far the most important thing you can do is stretching. The last one (when mine got so bad I could barely walk and couldn't at all barefoot on hard surfaces) recommended stretching 2-3 hours a DAY! Just to get rid of the pain and then you can maintain in the 10 minutes or so a day after that - I keep a roller and a pillowcase that I tied to some handles (that came with a stretch band for exercising but I replaced it with something more solid) by the sofa and if I'm ever sitting watching TV, I'm stretching with the pillowcase or rolling my calves and arches. When mine was really bad, they gave me steroids and told me to take large quantities of ibuprofen, but the point of both of those wasn't fixing anything or relieving the pain long term - just for long enough to allow you to stretch more (from what I understand, other than surgery, stretching is really the only way to make it go away or "get better"). You can do basic searches online for various stretches for it and find what works best for you - for me the focus seems to be stretching the arch and the calf and there are a lot of different options to get that done. Also, consider looking at the Strassberg (sp?) sock or a full boot - for awhile I was wearing one on each foot (one sock, one boot since two boots, although I have them, was simply too bulky to sleep comfortably). It's been about 2 years since it's been really bad for me and I'm local and spend probably an average of 2 days at a park and do a ton of walking. But I'm doing my best to be proactive and stretch regularly, even when it's not hurting. I always have water bottles frozen reach to grab to roll as others suggested but this is (again) mostly for the stretching, although the ice does help. Do NOT use heat, although it feels so much better than the ice!

You need to get rid of it. I've had it several times. You need a cortisone shot and then sleep in one of those foot braces that keeps your toes up straight. do this and rest and you should be set by November.

Another Birkenstock believer here. I too have had PF several times and had cortisone shots during 2 different episodes. As soon as I get home from work I put on my Birkenstocks and never go barefoot. I have been pain free for years. Now on my second pair of Birkenstocks. I swear by them.

I didn't see if anyone answered this - my podiatrist recommends this for me as well. It is physical therapy at the end of a day to help reduce inflammation and massage the tendon as well as stretching. I sit and press my foot on it as I roll the foot forward and back.

Did you get all three shots within few months? What was your spread out time? Thank you
Again, I'm not the poster you asked, but wanted to share my experience. I have gotten shots 3 times over a span of years. First one worked pretty well and kept the PF at bay for a long time. Next time it came back, I happened to have a new foot doctor and she wanted to do a specific kind of shot where I was in an MRI machine at the time so she could see exactly where the tendon is and get the shot into the sheath rather than just in the ankle/heel in general. It worked great for even longer period of years. Recently, my foot pain is back (actually PF has pretty well stayed away, but another tendon is causing me trouble. Caused by me walking funny to favor the PF and I stretched/injured something else :( ) I got another cortisone shot and this one didn't seem to work at all. Basically, I suppose it depends on you, your body, the extent of your trouble and maybe even your dr's aim. At the recent follow-up, I was given Meloxicam (Rx strength ibuprofen) and a steroid. Those seemed to take care of it for me for a while. Now I have pain after a long day on my feet, but not generally every day any more.

I suppose that's a long way of saying that I would recommend trying a shot now to see how you react and whether it works, so that you have lots of time to do any necessary follow-up before the trip as well.

I am a professional dancer and had a bout of Plantar Fascitis a year and a half ago. Good Times. It was painful!

I didn't try doing Disney during that time, but I found these socks to work well for dance rehearsals and general walking around.

I tried a combination of things. Piroxicam, orthodontic shoes , custom shoe inserts, frozen water bottle and all worked to some extent, but these socks worked the best. The bootie you sleep in didn't do anything for me. At the worst of the attack I could wear these socks and a least get through a dance rehearsal. I would sleep in them and the pain would be considerable less than the nights I didn't. They do squeeze your foot so some nights I had to take them off during the night because my toes started tingling.

Have done WDW with Plantar Fasciitis. First time, I was miserable every time I stood up (you know that first few steps issues, if you have it).

I have had a few cortisone injections. The downside is that they hurt like nothing you can imagine, but that only lasts a minute or so. Then, you'll be pain free for a few hours. I have had reactions where after a few hours, I'm in worse pain than before the shot (you put ice on it immediately) but that only lasts 24-48 hours and do you want to stay off the feet until then.

If you get a shot, schedule it for about two weeks before your trip just in case of anything out of the ordinary.
My podiatrist told me to get orthotics from the drug store and I did, I've had the custom ones and they did nothing more than the drug store ones.

Go to a sneaker store (not a general shoe store - I went to Asics but we also have a good runners store locally), you want to talk to someone that knows what they are talking about. Tell them your issues (example: my PF is partly because I have very high arches) and try on a lot of shoes and don't be be prepared to spend. I only wear athletic shoes at Disney and I still considered it worth the price. Be sure to break them in.

Here's a trick that I did last trip (but I did have a shot about three weeks prior) and it helped. I bought two of the compression socks (my heels are very narrow so this works for me). I wore both with a gel heel cup in between. You can also get two and only wear one and then the heel cup in the shoe (I don't like them to move around, so I like the layers of compression or my regular sock). This also allowed me to wear a cute sandal out to dinner (two compression socks with the cup inside). Again, my heels are narrow, so it wasn't too tight.

Before getting off the bus, standing up from dinner, etc, do some quick stretching. I put my foot up on my toes (think ballerina) and then slowly press the arch down. Also works for arch cramps.

From physical therapist, while sitting around at home, roll a tennis ball around with the arch of your foot. Once that gets easier, switch to a golf ball. I assume the doctor also gave you the towel exercises? Those did nothing for me but the ball helps.
